MSM; Rather 1, Bloggers 0

Posted on 09/13/2004 2:40:35 PM PDT by geneboy

In case it's has escaped your attention, Dan Rather and the MSM, at least based on my review of it, has marched on. The forged documents have become yesterday's news.

What sould have been a defining moment in this year's presidential election is being ignored by the MSM, and by default, the general population.

We know, beyond a reasonable doubt, that CBS news used forged documents in its politically driven attempt to discredit President Bush's Air National Guard service. And we know that, to their credit, bloggers not only identified those documents as forgeries, but exposed them as forgeries. Initially it seemed as the the MSM would sieze upon this as a story. But, as of today, 13SEP94, the story has all but dissappeared from the mainstream media.

Dan Rather, after having given a pathetic defence of the documents, marches on, while the bloggers continue to preach to the choir.

The forged documents represented an opportunity to attack the MSM, DNC and Kerry/Edwards ticket on a number of levels. Specifically, their general incompetence and fundemental dishonesty. How can you trust the Kerry/Edwards ticket to succeed in the War on Terror when they can't even orchestrate the distribution of forged documents that fail to eclispe the abilities of most 7th graders. And how can we trust you someone who sinks to such desperate and dishonest measures in an effort to save a philosophically failed campaign.

Yet, the issues surrounding the memos have gone largely unreported. Why? Because the few media outlets conservatives have dropped the ball on this one.

Matt Drudge has decided to focus his attentions on Ivan. Hey Matt, I can get all the weather information I need from my second rate, network affiliate weatherman. Why don't you play to your strengths, emphasize politically charged charged stories that the MSM avoid.

And then there is Fox News, grade F. As a network news organization you never, EVER, miss an opportunity to increase your ratings at the expense of your competitiors. Fox should have put together an hour special on CBS's report for broadcast of Sunday night. For god's sake, the bloggers had done 90% of your research for you. And, you should have advertised it during the Sunday football games. Instead, Fox News seemed to content itself having dimwits like Shepard Smith, et al, repeat the AP wire story that, "CBS stands behind its sources."

So, my friends, Dan Rather will continue espouse his view of the world despite all your efforts.

Well, I gotta go. I have a BioChem exam this afternoon. And BioChem is a lot harder than politics.

Regards, and keep up the struggle.

Geneboy

Not that I've seen. I have seen posters brought back during a thread, but I've never seen a title change like that.

I guess the mods have instant replay! :-)

I'm not sure which of the four Iowa's she is. I think that similar pictures where taken of all of them.

Like most dedicated FReepers, I swipped the pic. I first saw it in another thread last week. LOL

In the early days of the Limbaugh program, they used a guy who imitated Mike Tyson that asked the question:

Mr. Limbaugh let me kick his butt!

I think we need to kick geneboy's butt.

I think his points were valid, Joe Six-Pack isn't going to follow all this stuff about fonts and type setting, it just gives him "tired head." Better to focus on Staudt not even being there in 73.

ROFLMAO - 'tired head' - I haven't heard that one before. I thought it was my sinuses, but after some reflection I'm thinking it's been such a long day I must have tired head, too.

Wether or not you think he's a troll, he's kind of right. There is not enough pressure being placed on the MSM in order to pursue the full veracity of these documents.

Keeping pushing them till every question is answered.

Where are the original documents!
Why were copies provided to various new agencies independently!
Why has the media not questioned obvious smear tactics!
How can experts claim the authenticity of photocopies!
Why was an obviously bias author with no forensics background used to testify to the documents veracity!
ETC, Etc.

What is wrong with so many people here?

This member states a valid point.

Sean Hannity still spends half his time giggling with Flipper, Matt Drudge is spending too much time on Ivan, and O'Reilly and others at FOX News seem to be going out of their way to kiss the RATs' point ov view.

This member is upset that the conservatives did not pound this issue hard enough and this member is 100% correct.

I just saw the roundtable on Brit Hume's Special Report do a discussion of the forged memos, 09/13. Mara Liasson (sp?) insists that there is evidence G.W. Bush missed out on 7 months of Guard duty regardless of the documents' authenticity. I guess that's the liberal party line at this point in time...
