Presidential candidate John Kerry promised over the weekend that he would "take on the terrorists" who attacked the U.S. on 9/11 by forcing them to obey America's gun control laws.

Kerry said laws like the Assault Weapons Ban, which expires today, were valuable "not just to fight ordinary crime but to take on terrorists." And he complained that President Bush was "making the job of the terrorists easier" by not pushing for a renewal of the sweeping gun control law.

"The 9/11 commission and other reports have shown that al Qaida wanted to come into America, and in the al Qaida manual of terror, they were telling people to go out and buy assault weapons," Kerry told a crowd in Missouri.

The top Democrat did not explain why the Assault Weapons Ban failed to protect America Against the 9/11 attacks, which were executed by al Qaida operatives armed with small knives.

Nor did Kerry say how many terrorists had been arrested and charged with violations under the Assault Weapons Ban.

There would be more than one war at that point. I hope they are not that stupid.

Taking on terrorists with gun control is a lot like going hunting without your accordion...

While he's at it, maybe Kerry can ban Zippo Lighters.

He BETTER NOT! I won't stand for that cr@p.

He'll have to pry my Zippo® from my cold dead Camel smokin' hands.

Plus I need it to burn down VC Villages :-)
(obvious Kerry sarcasm-off)

If the 9/11 terrorists were creative enough to think of using airplanes, they're certainly creative enough to think of using something else next time and couldn't care less about guns.

Maybe he'll protect us by expanding the law in Chico (home of Chico State) that makes it against the law for exploding a nuclear device within the city limits.

I am beginning to agree with the pundits who are predicting a Bush landslide. Look at this collection of clumsy Kerry campaign tactics:
  1. Strong support for gun control, and phony "support" for sport shooting. If any politician hasn't figured out that being a gun grabber doesn't work outside of a few small areas, then that's great, it sure makes it easier to spot them if they wear their gun-grabbing ways proudly.
  2. Calling for more appeasement of Kim Jong-Il. Calling to continue President Clinton's and President Carter's utterly failed North Korean policies -- another sure vote loser. Even former American Secretary of State Albright has said that Kim cheats, and if she can finally figure this out, then anyone who argues to continue for such nit-witted policies is clearly losing voters with each call.
  3. Silly photo opportunities. My favorite of this lot:

You know, it is really hard to believe that Senator Kerry is spending so much money in order to replay Senator McGovern, Vice President Mondale, and Governor Dukakis electoral disasters.

But then, the Democrats did choose another ultra-liberal from Massachusetts...

Now that the Assault Weapons Ban has expired, my morning commute was pure hell. My car took over 437 bullet impacts from beer-guzzling, camo-clad militia members (aka "my neighbors"). The RPG into the gas tank was the final straw, though (c8

My wife just called me from our bathtub. Seems the neighbors are using .50 caliber API, and the bathtub now looks like a colander. She wants me to get a new bathtub at Home Depot tonight.

Yeah, the Power of Law! Only problem is that this works only with people whom the law already has under its power and is able to control, ie, screw over. Terrorists are not under the law and, thus, are immune to anything promulgated as law. So, Johnny baby, other than going to the UN, beret in hand, the only thing you can do with terrorists is to go after them and kill them; something to which you have been very averse. GW already beat you to the punch. All you're doing is vigorously moving your hand up and down.

Yes of course. How very pro-active of the Chico city council to pass such a regulation. That will come in handy some day. Just like my tin foil hat.

Sounds like he's choosing his dodge-ball team.

This is so-much more serious than school-yard bravado.

We cannot expect our country to be defended against terrorists any better than its citizens can defend themselves against mass murderers.

The problem is Usama, his henchmen, Saddam, his henchmen, Abu Musaf Al Zarqawi, Muqtada Al Sadr and his Al Mahdi Army, and every thung in the planet will not obey such laws. If guns were illegal, only terrorists and criminals would have guns.

I'm never that upset by the talking heads not asking the pointed questions of the Demodogs. It has been proven over and over that the public gets some false impression of their candidates in that way, and then when that candidate gets "blindsided" in the debates, or with last 3 week campaign ads which reveal the truth, the candidate totally tanks in the mind of the public.

Bush has so very much ammunition he can use against the most liberal candidate the Demodogs could have chosen - it is a target rich environment - the only question is which target to choose and when.

The man who conned his way into the trust of the families of our POW MIAs held by N Vietnam
Promises to get the N Vietnamese to 'turn them over to us" Kerry promised to 'bring them all home'

He betrays that trust by going to see the commies and bargaining away their lives to get considerations for his cousin "Forbes" at Colliers...

He traded the lives of Americans made widows and orphans out of American servicemen's wives and children..for Real Estate deals...with the commies..

Of course he wants to disarm all Americans especially the families and friends of those he betrayed....he doesn't dare trust Americans with firearms in his mental state...

Kerry is paranoid...due to his unrevealed, unresolved, unforgiven and unpunished guilt....

John F Kerry is an emotional basket case whose wicker is rapidly unraveling...(speak this in your best Elmer Fudd voice to get the truest implication)

Electing John F Kerry to our nations highest office would be making Capt Queeg Chairman of the Joint Chiefs..

imo

19 years in the U.S Senate and John F*ckin' is still an idiot. Federal law already PROHIBITS any one from bringing a loaded gun or rifle aboard a plane. And he supposed to be attorney! Sheesh...

I'm not a "gun nut" or anything like that ( I keep a pistol in the night stand), but after 9-11 and after the recent incident in the Russian school and knowing what the Islamofacists seek to do to all Americans, I plan on making a little purchase of one of those weapons in the near future. I hear orders are rolling in to the places that will sell them.
