N Korea says it blew up mountain
North Korea has given an explanation for the huge blast last Thursday which prompted speculation that it was a part of a nuclear test.
The country's foreign minister, Paek Nam Sun, said the blast was the deliberate demolition of a mountain as part of a hydro-electric project.
His remarks were in response to a call for information by the visiting UK Foreign Office minister, Bill Rammell.
North Korea had said absolutely nothing about the incident until now.

If nothing else Dan Rather has taught us the many possibilities of superscripting! :) Can subscripting be far behind? ;)

Ah yes! They pray to the rocks, even though they KNOW the source of this wrath.

Notra Trulock,
Code Name Kindred Spirit, lays out the Moler-Berger-Clinton cover for Wen Ho Lee's theft of our warhead data.
A person involved in current activities remarked, "It isn't what they got from us which is important. It's what we have that they don't know about."
They laughed at SDI as "Star Wars"--it's the Gipper's turn to laugh.
Go ahead, Khamenei, make my day.

The other interesting item is that state dept. spokesman who said it might have been a forest fire. Well, we had to say something, but it seems to have been with tongue in cheek. We want NK and Iran and every other bad guy on the block to shake in their boots. I can hear our Euroweenie 'allies' now, America, the 'rogue' nation. Yesterday they were whining about Iran's thumbing its nose at the IAEA, and in the event, guess who'd have to enforce whatever lame resolution they came up with. Then there's Kerry, calling up the NYTimes and yelling that GW hasn't paid enough attention to NK. Maybe he'll change the subject back to health care.
