Thanks, I got it to work, I guess it is just busy.

Maybe CBS is stalling while they hire a real good forger to make new fake old docs. I wouldn't put it past them. Their neck is in the noose.

na, on secound thought, that wouldn't work, they already have distributed copies of the missing docs. it would be impossible to make origionals to match the copies

I posted this too...CBS would have to hire a very good forger to fool New Media (he,he). Hey, the fact that the site is busy is good news. This story is not going away.

I'm just itching to see when and what some higher authority is going to say about this.
There is no way the WH can let this slide.
And as someone pointed out, forging federal doccuments is a crime.

I'd be willing to bet that the IBM Composer couldn't do kerning like that.

This is big - way bigger than Watergate or any other campaign irregularity.

I doubt if this is the first time this has been done, but it's the first time any news organization with the size and prestige of CBS has been caught.

I personally think this will go down in history as the worst known abuse of journalism in history -- not so much because the content of the forgery, but because of the size and influence of CBS.

I have to admit that I simply don't know. It might have been physically possible for it to type a letter and then do a fractional backspace, but kerning requires knowledge of the pair of letters being typed. In other words, you type a letter, but don't advance the carriage until you know what the next letter is.

That easy for a computer, because it knows the whole document in advance of printing. And on a computer, the display can be updated so quickly that backspacing and redisplay are not noticed.

I've always found it amazing that through two gubernatorial campaigns...and now a second presidential campaign, that only now do memo's appear that "CBS has been looking for," for over 3 years. Memos, that just happen to answer the exact questions CBS (and the media) has been asking. And now we have admissions that they don't even know who the source is for the documents. They know damn well it's the DNC and Kerry...and are now involved in a massive cover-up.

Judging by Kerry's performance last Thursday in North Carolina, they're not sure anymore. While talking about the economy, health-care policy, Kerry went off speech and began stumbling immediately. Kerry said that he would always tell the public the truth, and if the audience didn't believe him, they could "[g]o to a web site. It can be johnkerry.com or go some other place. Go to truth.com, if there is one, and find out what's really happening," Kerry said.

Wow, how come I didn't hear about this on CBS?

MEANWHILE, OVER THE WEEKEND journalists from around the country were attempting to track down the original source of the documents. "We're having a hard time tracking how we got the documents," says the CBS News producer. "There are at least two people in this building who have insisted we got copies of these memos from the Kerry campaign by way of an additional source. We do not have the originals, and our sources have indicated to us that we will not be getting the originals. How that is possible I don't know."

Yes, you do know. We know too. We all know. It just remains for you to admit it.

Good point!

jmstein7 wrote a great thread recently, outlining all the crimes committed during this "document" cycle.

Dan could have had the "Scoop of the Century" had he revealed the FORGERY of the documents to discredit a sitting president. But .. Dan gave that up for petty, personal hatred. Instead of going out on top of his game with a great SCOOP, CBS may have to force him out just to save the network.

"CBS is totally, fully, completely hosed. They can't produce the originals. They can't verify authenticity without the originals, and now they can't even say who was their source!"

C BS is sourceless, clueless and hopeless.
