DNC TO LAUNCH FRESH ATTACK ON BUSH GUARD DUTY:  WILL RAISE QUESTIONS ABOUT 1978 CAMPAIGN LIT

**Exclusive**

Faster than a CBS eye can blink, dogged Dems are set to take to the airwaves anew hoping to keep questions about President Bush's National Guard duty in play, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.

Candidate Kerry apparently has rejected former President Clinton's advice not to get further locked in a 2004 Vietnam quagmire.

"George W. Bush's campaign literature claimed that he 'served in the U.S. Air Force.' The only problem? He didn't,"  slams a new DNC press release set for distribution.

Dems will attempt to increase the heat on Bush ahead of his planned Tuesday address before The National Guard Association gathering in Las Vegas.

In 2000, Bush opened his National Guard Association speech: "General, I am reporting for duty."

MORE

Kerry plans to speak to the group on Thursday, but he personally hold back questioning Bush's service, sources explain.

The coordinated nationwide effort this week by the DNC has been code-named "Project Fortunate Son."

"George Bush has a clear pattern of lying about his military service," DNC Communications Director Jano Cabrera blasts in the new release. "From 1978 to the present day, George Bush has refused to tell voters the truth about his service. It's time for the President to come clean."

"Flyers distributed to Texas voters during Bush's failed Congressional race say 'he served in the U.S. Air Force and the Texas Air National Guard.' But according to Air Force officials, Air National Guardsmen are not counted as members of the active-duty Air Force."

"What should we be doing as the MSM, Kitty Kelly and the Kerry people launch this offensive??"

Bush should ignore it, since it's hurting the 'Rats. If asked about it, he should just smile and say something like this:

"I've been taking hits like this all year, from guys like Michael Moore and George Soros. I don't make a big deal out of it because it's inevitable that attacks like this will occur at this level of politics. My record speaks for itself, including my nearly four years as our nation's commander in chief."

Meanwhile, the Swifties and the POWs will be hitting Kerry with LEGITIMATE charges regarding his ugly misconduct as an anti-war activist. Let's see Kerry dodge that!

This stupid charge can be answered with a simple question to the DNC: On what basis is the DNC claiming President Bush was AWOL? Is it based on the Texas Air National Guard Manual? The Texas Air National Guard Regulations?

No. It's based on the Air Force Manual and Air Force Regulations. So the DNC is being inconsistent themselves.

Kerry was an officer in the Naval Reserves, not the Navy. Quite frankly, if there were a Massachusetts Naval National Guard, he probably would have joined it. President Bush was in the equivalent of the Air Force Reserves, the Texas Air National Guard. End of stupid discussion.

It wasn't a Swiftboat Vet who raised the sleepwalking issue, it was the guy that Kerry phoned to ask why the the Swiftboat Vets were all against him.

Kerry was trying to recruit him, he told Kerry to go take a running jump (metaphorically) and in recounting his story to the press said he knew Kerry well, bunked with him, and in fact used to put him back to bed at night when he sleepwalked.

Susan Estrich said that Oliphant's daughter wrote Edwards acceptance speech at the DNC Convention. She is a speech writer for the campaign. Estrich was so proud of her that she called her dad (Susan's friend for years) to congratulate him. Oliphant even went out and bought his daughter a new gold bracelet for her accomplishment.

You know you watch too much television when you know more about these people than you do your neighbors. LOL!

GW Bush was ACTIVE duty during the time that he was a pilot-in-training. Therefore, he was USAF during the time he was learning to fly. Dems, never having served a day in their sorry lives, wouldn't know this.

There is no such thing as an active duty National Guardsman or an active duty reservist. When you are active duty, you are a bona fide, no sh*t active duty puke. There is no difference between you and someone who signed up active.

I wouldn't even answer the charge.. all that is needed is to have a military expert on FNC or Scarborough to explain why the DNC sound like fools

If you read the flier it states that he served in the Air Force (they trained him to fly) AND the Texas Air National Guard

I'm with knak .. this is all a diversion to get us all off track and not talk about the POW's documentary

I need to go and haven't had time to read the whole of what I'm about to link. But look what else I found from 1999:

November, 1999
Penn National Commission "Political Discourse"

excerpt:

Mr. PAUL BEGALA: Thanks, Kathleen.

~snip and scroll down~

Third, I was advised to ask: `In 1978, Bush was running for the House of Representatives. He had a brochure that said he served in the Air Force instead of the International Guard. Isn't that Bush lying about his military record?'

~snip~

I only had to go down five messages on the DUmb board to find this gem:

Technically since he was on active duty for a year while training on the F-102, he was Air Force during that time.

Everyone except the hardest core kool-aid drinkers knows that this issue is a non-starter.

These Dems are masochists. Do they really want to keep military service a front and center issue? It's abundantly clear that even if the forgeries were true, NO ONE CARES.

This campaign is beyond bizarre. This is apparently how they answer the decorated SwiftVets who are burying the traitorous bastard.

No, it's not. They raised this very issue back in 1999. I've posted two independent references from that year on this thread.

Swift Vets or no, they would have made this idiotic attack on Bush with this. It is not in retaliation for the Swift Vets, though I realize and know how livid and enraged the Kerry Kamp is over the Swifties.

Well, we've now worked our way from 1972 to 1978. By the time the election gets here, maybe we can talk about the Nineties.

But the attack was never this intense. They never tried to furnish fake documents before. Rather's biggest problem (well, besides posing as a journalist) is that he believes he has the story and will do anything to advance it. He will justify fake documents because, well, after all, the story is true.

To: Crazieman; All

Apologies if this has been pointed out already but...there is NO differentiation on your uniform if you're active duty, reserve or guard. If you're AF, AF Reserve, of AF National Guard, the name tap over the left pocket says U.S. Air Force!

I spent three years in the Army NG. The name tape over my left pocket said U.S. ARMY! Not Army National Guard.

It infuriates me to no end to hear these liberal RAT military hating WEENIES make judgements on things they know NOTHING about! I bet none of these talking head idiots that want to calim the President was AWOL ever THOUGHT of putting onthe uniform. IF they had, they wouldn't say the stupid things they do!
