DNC TO LAUNCH FRESH ATTACK ON BUSH GUARD DUTY:  WILL RAISE QUESTIONS ABOUT 1978 CAMPAIGN LIT

**Exclusive**

Faster than a CBS eye can blink, dogged Dems are set to take to the airwaves anew hoping to keep questions about President Bush's National Guard duty in play, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.

Candidate Kerry apparently has rejected former President Clinton's advice not to get further locked in a 2004 Vietnam quagmire.

"George W. Bush's campaign literature claimed that he 'served in the U.S. Air Force.' The only problem? He didn't,"  slams a new DNC press release set for distribution.

Dems will attempt to increase the heat on Bush ahead of his planned Tuesday address before The National Guard Association gathering in Las Vegas.

In 2000, Bush opened his National Guard Association speech: "General, I am reporting for duty."

MORE

Kerry plans to speak to the group on Thursday, but he personally hold back questioning Bush's service, sources explain.

The coordinated nationwide effort this week by the DNC has been code-named "Project Fortunate Son."

"George Bush has a clear pattern of lying about his military service," DNC Communications Director Jano Cabrera blasts in the new release. "From 1978 to the present day, George Bush has refused to tell voters the truth about his service. It's time for the President to come clean."

"Flyers distributed to Texas voters during Bush's failed Congressional race say 'he served in the U.S. Air Force and the Texas Air National Guard.' But according to Air Force officials, Air National Guardsmen are not counted as members of the active-duty Air Force."

They just don't get it.

Even if supposing, just supposing that some of their allegation agaist the President were true, first of all, he DID get an honorable discharge, so nothing could have been really bad; and second of all, IT DOESN'T MATTER.

Why doesn't it really matter?

It's because people already watched Bush BE President for 4 years, and watched him perform under tremendous, critical circumstances, watched him successfully lead the War on Terror, getting rid of the Taliban and deposing Saddam. they don't have to try to guess, based on what he did or didn't do 35 years ago, whether he is capable and resolute enought to lead us during these critical times. The answer is a resounding YES. Bush has already proven himself many times over.

But Kerry has NO track record, except his Senate record, where he voted against defense systems, voted to cut intelligence, didn't think we should fight communism, because he didn't think we could win, and Kerry is running for president, based on his Vietnam record. Well, in that case, it's only fair to examine that and his subsequent actions of his attacks on his fellow soldiers, when he called them war criminals and met with the communist Vietnamese.

The most amusing thing about it is that it looks more authentic than the ones CBS is pushing.

Dead horse is right. The poor thing is a smoldering pulp, and still they bring whips. I do hope one good thing comes as a result of this. ONCE and for ALL, congressional republicans see the enemy clearly. And learn from W. and Rove how to deal effectively with them.

They are going to release an old GWB campaign flyer from the 1970s that says he served in the USAF and the TANG. They already have this as the lead story on DU. They are going orgasmic over it, claiming that Bush lied in his campaign literature about having served in the US Air Force.

This is a big time bomb which was to be their October surprise, but given their collapsing polls, they have decided to bring it on now.

.is anyone else tired of hearing about swift boats and typewriters?...both of these political parties are getting on my nerves...

The Swift Boat Vets are independent. They are not tied in any way to the Republican party.

This does not make sense. Are the Democrats that stupid? There are many issues that voters are concerned with. Bush's NG more than thirty years is not one of them. You would think that after Clinton's evasion of military service and the scandal about the forged documents, the Democrats would want to have everyone forget this issue.

Could it be that it is a diversion for some other skeleton in Kerry's closet? Or simply utter stupidity?

Typical crazy leftest desperation.

Like.. I keep seeing something over on DU about Laura Bush killing someone in a car accident years ago, but I haven't ever seen it anywhere else so i'm sure is BS.

Does anyone have more info on this??

Bush went through pilot training through USAF UPT (Undergraduate pilot training). The Guard didn't replicate training -- too expensive. Bush trained at Moody AFB, in Georgia as part of the USAF.

Of course, W served in USAF, that's how he got his wings.

Now, they're just grasping at straws. Don't these guys over there know anything?

The swift boat veterans are private citizens. They have nothing to do with the republican party.

I saw that earlier over there and they are sure it's their smoking gun.

So, is the ANG part of the USAF? I would think so because there's a big ANG base by my house and I know the USAF uses it also.

good points. the WH has been to passive on these forged memos, this "stay quiet while you enemy is destroying himself" is fine, except I'd think you'd find very few americans even know about this forgery story. sure, we know about it here, Fox News viewers, talk radio. but the sheeple? last week, when I are lunch with some co-workers, many of them thought this story was about Bush forging his guard records. they are clueless. so there is still plenty of room for the media and the Dems to continue lying, again and again. and that's exactly what they are going to do.
