DNC TO LAUNCH FRESH ATTACK ON BUSH GUARD DUTY:  WILL RAISE QUESTIONS ABOUT 1978 CAMPAIGN LIT

**Exclusive**

Faster than a CBS eye can blink, dogged Dems are set to take to the airwaves anew hoping to keep questions about President Bush's National Guard duty in play, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.

Candidate Kerry apparently has rejected former President Clinton's advice not to get further locked in a 2004 Vietnam quagmire.

"George W. Bush's campaign literature claimed that he 'served in the U.S. Air Force.' The only problem? He didn't,"  slams a new DNC press release set for distribution.

Dems will attempt to increase the heat on Bush ahead of his planned Tuesday address before The National Guard Association gathering in Las Vegas.

In 2000, Bush opened his National Guard Association speech: "General, I am reporting for duty."

MORE

Kerry plans to speak to the group on Thursday, but he personally hold back questioning Bush's service, sources explain.

The coordinated nationwide effort this week by the DNC has been code-named "Project Fortunate Son."

"George Bush has a clear pattern of lying about his military service," DNC Communications Director Jano Cabrera blasts in the new release. "From 1978 to the present day, George Bush has refused to tell voters the truth about his service. It's time for the President to come clean."

"Flyers distributed to Texas voters during Bush's failed Congressional race say 'he served in the U.S. Air Force and the Texas Air National Guard.' But according to Air Force officials, Air National Guardsmen are not counted as members of the active-duty Air Force."

True .. they would not read her book .. however a lot of them watch programs like the Today Show or Good Morning America .. where they might be likely to run into her guest appearances.

And .. I suppose the MSM will be exposing all her lies as news during the newscycle. A lot of people don't have cable and rely upon local networks (no FOX).

this crap being thrown about by the DNC makes me think we should have IQ & logic tests to vote, one should be able to walk and talk at the same time and score over 50 on an human IQ test and posses anduse common sense enough to recognize the difference between a mountain and a mole hole...half of DU seems not only to have gone to public schools, but to have failed them also.

I accept your point, aft-lizard. However, it is always a powerful style of argument to hypothetically accept the opposition's point, then show how it is meaningless.

In this case, the Kerry campaign made a signficant error in their campaign literature/web site THIS year and little was made of it. For crying out loud, Bush LOST the race in 78.

Mistakes happen. Kerry made a bigger one this year. The public will see them as being little people (or dare I say it, "GIRLIE MEN") by making this argument.

But according to Air Force officials, Air National Guardsmen are not counted as members of the active-duty Air Force.

Do they realize they are infuriating thousands of Guard and Reserve men and woman with that statement?

I think the statement is meant to merely reflect accounting practices. How many in the AF? xx,xxx. How many in the Army? xxx, xxx. How many in the Air Force Reserves? xx,xxx. Etc.

"It reveals the details of embarassing photographs of Bush that actually caused U.S. Govt. agents to perpetrate the anthrax mailings to destroy the building of National Enquirer and kill photo editor Stevens."

I guess old Kitty thinks someone will buy this trash. I think she is in for a BIG surprise!

No one is infuriated. It's really a budget thing. Each service has a hard-core of "regulars," who hold positions that are more or less permanent. Then there are the other components like reserves and guard. But the careerists want to be part of the "regular" force. Faster promotions, etc. Otherwise, no one cares. (Except the Kerry campaign.) During cutbacks and downsizing, the various components are treated differently. The regulars are the last to go. Also, reserves and guard are less expensive, because they're on active duty less than the regulars. To the guys on active duty, it doesn't matter very much, and it obviously didn't matter to Bush while he was in training.

Spokesman for the DNC who is making all of these charges.

(Jano) Cabrera most recently served as spokesperson for Senator Joe Lieberman's presidential campaign. He was former Vice-President Al Gore's spokesperson from 1998 to 2002, working both at the White House and on Gore's presidential campaign. Cabrera also served as Communications Director for the Recording Industry Association of America. Originally from California, he is a graduate of Pomona College.

Gigolo douche bag windsurfing ad...haven't they already done that one, courtesy of the MSM? Remember how pissed he was that there was no wind. "I demand wind! And I don't fall!"

You're right, though, about the hypocrocy of the fortunate son theme.

But I think the Bush team is smart to focus only on the Keeping Americans Safe mantra. They're right on track, not letting this frenzied ANG attack take them off message.

They started doing random drug tests in the Army in 1973. I myself was selected to pee on command.

The first drug screens I saw (active duty Army) were in the early ‘80’s. They might have had them before but I never encountered them in the ‘60’s or ‘70’s.
Maybe a Guard unit was far in advance of the regulars?

To the Dummie crats---the Guard and Reserves are not military fighting units-even though they have died on the battlefield. See references to the Bloody Bucket Brigade.

It is shameful what the Democrats are doing. They are trashing our Guard and Reserve American heroes for partisan gain. Shame on them.

DNC Communications Director Jano Cabrera said in response:"Rudy Giuliani tonight stood in the shadow of ground zero and praised the President who said we cannot win the war on terror. Either he miscalculated the character of the man he was praising, or he has betrayed the people he once led through America's darkest day. It is shocking that after four years, there's so little to talk about in praise of this President that Republicans have to launch such vicious attacks. America can do better than this."

Kerry has nothing to run on. He knows he is losing. He is returning to his base of treasonous antimilitary leftists.
