DNC TO LAUNCH FRESH ATTACK ON BUSH GUARD DUTY:  WILL RAISE QUESTIONS ABOUT 1978 CAMPAIGN LIT

**Exclusive**

Faster than a CBS eye can blink, dogged Dems are set to take to the airwaves anew hoping to keep questions about President Bush's National Guard duty in play, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.

Candidate Kerry apparently has rejected former President Clinton's advice not to get further locked in a 2004 Vietnam quagmire.

"George W. Bush's campaign literature claimed that he 'served in the U.S. Air Force.' The only problem? He didn't,"  slams a new DNC press release set for distribution.

Dems will attempt to increase the heat on Bush ahead of his planned Tuesday address before The National Guard Association gathering in Las Vegas.

In 2000, Bush opened his National Guard Association speech: "General, I am reporting for duty."

MORE

Kerry plans to speak to the group on Thursday, but he personally hold back questioning Bush's service, sources explain.

The coordinated nationwide effort this week by the DNC has been code-named "Project Fortunate Son."

"George Bush has a clear pattern of lying about his military service," DNC Communications Director Jano Cabrera blasts in the new release. "From 1978 to the present day, George Bush has refused to tell voters the truth about his service. It's time for the President to come clean."

"Flyers distributed to Texas voters during Bush's failed Congressional race say 'he served in the U.S. Air Force and the Texas Air National Guard.' But according to Air Force officials, Air National Guardsmen are not counted as members of the active-duty Air Force."

This is just getting ridiculous. They've never heard of Title 10 which is what the Guard guys are designated when then come into the Air Force with Guard sponsorship.

They sign a two year commitment for OCS, UPT, RTU, etc. Unless the wash out, they are assured of their designated plane and then are transferred to their Guard unit.

As Title 10, they get the same benefits, treatment, etc. as all active duty military.

There is no distinction between Joe Guardsman and Joe USAF.

This is going nowhere, except just one more way to keep it alive and have the "stupid" ones question Bush all over again.

sKerry's monumental ego combined with an inferiority complex just won't allow him to let go of this, even in the face of more and more evidence that it's a losing battle, AND that people are geting sick of the whole thing.

He just can't bear to have the veil torn from him,the veil of his "heroism", his self-delusion of himself as a towering giant amongst ordinary men.

It's gotten to the point where he's absolutely obsessed with this, even to his own detriment.

All this, combined with a shoddy voting record, and absolutely NOTHING relevant to offer voters-after the election's over, and President Bush has been re-elected,sKerry will still be screaming at the departing flocks of reporters,"But I'm a HERO, dammit all, don't you idiots know who I am???!!!!"

Exactly. I have spoken with AIR GUARD officers for the purpose of seeing what it takes for OTS.

They point out that Air Guardsman are still part of the Air Force. They are a reserve component.

The DNC is playing with words.

The MSM is already going after Laura.

Kitty Kelley's book said that Laura also took and sold coke.

I think all this will backfire on the Dems bigtime.

What hasn't been discussed is Kerry's father who was an official in the Navy at one time.

Don't you think Kerry was able to game the system with his phony Purple Hearts because he was a fortunate son? Isn't it likely that David Alston --a black man-- and Mederios-- a hispanic-- couldn't have gotten three splinters and an out.

In additon, how could Kerry get honorable discharged after going on secret missions to visit the VC and NVA in Paris??

Why does Kerry supposedly get out of the Naval Reserve honorably in '78 when Jimmy "Amnesty" Carter was President.

Before Jan 77, A GOP President would have been in control and Kerry would have no gotten an honorable discharge??

Why doesn't Kerry sign a form 180?

Kerry looks like a fortunate son to me. Wouldn;t the country have been better off had Kerry not went glory chasing and Purple heart poaching for 4 months?

I got my first drug test circa 1977-1978. The USAF Academy never gave a drug test when I was there.

Someone said that the Army started earlier.

My son is in the ANG and leaves for Iraq in December. I cringed when Kerry called them weekenders, or however he demeaned them. They put in long, hard hours at their regular jobs, and still find time to fulfill their duties. Many are as qualified or even moreso than some in the regular military branches because they generally stay in longer. For instance, Tony has been in the ANG for over ten years, so is highly qualified at his job.

And they ARE PART OF THE UNITED STATES AIR FORCE!

It's my understanding that John O'Neill, the spokesman for the Swift Vote Vets,is a Democrat(though I would imagine he's voting for President Bush this election).

The Kerry campaign, along with the entire Democratic establishment, is headed for Ann Richards' fate. Richards had grown so frustrated at her inability to thwart the growing popular support for the unflappable Bush that she was reduced to calling him a jerk. It was the end of her campaign.

Bush drives his opponents absolutely bonkers, forcing them to eventually rip off their masks and reveal their nasty, embittered true inner selves.

"he would have been in a "non-chargeable" training status and he would not be counted against the number of airmen alloted to the active force."

your are correct; it is TOTALLY a force-accounting and budget issue;

you have to keep track of who is being paid out of which budget account; you have to keep track of how many are in student status, how many in hospital status, it goes on and on and on.

for all intents and purposes, active duty for training, esp. attending an active duty school, is active duty in the Army of AF or whatever component. for civilians to claim otherwise, and call the President of these Unites States of America and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces thereof, a LIAR about it, is absurd, and the epitome of conceit, because they know nothing, NOOTHING about it.

Did I say I AM OUTRAGED?

P.S. I have served in enlisted status in the Army Reserve, in student capacity; officer in the Army Reserve on active duty; Reserve inactive (because I did not resign my commission when I left my tour of active duty); Army Reserve (drilling); National Guard (drilling); full-time NG on active duty; and regular Army, from which I retired -- and all the time/points in a very complicated way from those other statuses counted to a certain extent. If anyone is curious of any more details how confusing the status gets, you can ask.

BTW - I used the SAME uniforms and insignia when going from one status to another; only the unit patch changed.

Bush went through pilot training through USAF UPT (Undergraduate pilot training). The Guard didn't replicate training -- too expensive. Bush trained at Moody AFB, in Georgia as part of the USAF.

Of course, W served in USAF, that's how he got his wings.

NavySEAL -- another outstanding post.

When we went through basic training,we didn't know who was in the national guard or reserves unless they told us.Everyone had US ARMY tags on their shirts.

Dems are over playing their hand. The DNC and Kerry campaign are coming across as a bunch of osbsessed, hate-driven fanatics. They and the likes of Michael Moore have become the face, if not the spirit, of the Democratic Party. This group of jackals will ensure that the Dems are going to be out of power for a long time to come.

Let's assume the worst...that the 1978 campaign literature was incorrect. They find ONE flier with a misstatement...you don't even know if candidate Bush approved the flier...and even if he did and spotted the error...so what...it was so minor, why fix it.

What about Senator Kerry claiming to be the co-chairman of a subcommittee (a post actually held by Senator Bob Kerrey)? This was on Kerry's bio THIS year! Campaign lit is sometimes wrong...no big deal.

The Dems are desperate. The concerted focus on the President's TexANG service will make it hard for them to dodge the splashback when the CBS documents are conclusively shown to be forgeries. The Dems have done too much work that is coordinated and based on those documents...the public will KNOW that the Dems were behind the forgery and they will suffer.

This is pure Adolf Hitler Big Lie theory. Repeat as many lies and as big a lie as possible because SOME of it will stick.

Why does michael moore produce a string of anti-american books sold abroad and at airports? because some of his maxist views will stick.

They are literally acting like cornered rats. They are now fighting like cornered rats. They will be exterminated but it will not be pretty.
