DNC TO LAUNCH FRESH ATTACK ON BUSH GUARD DUTY: WILL RAISE QUESTIONS ABOUT 1978 CAMPAIGN LIT
**Exclusive**
Faster than a CBS eye can blink, dogged Dems are set to take to the airwaves anew hoping to keep questions about President Bush's National Guard duty in play, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.
Candidate Kerry apparently has rejected former President Clinton's advice not to get further locked in a 2004 Vietnam quagmire.
"George W. Bush's campaign literature claimed that he 'served in the U.S. Air Force.' The only problem? He didn't," slams a new DNC press release set for distribution.
Dems will attempt to increase the heat on Bush ahead of his planned Tuesday address before The National Guard Association gathering in Las Vegas.
In 2000, Bush opened his National Guard Association speech: "General, I am reporting for duty."
MORE
Kerry plans to speak to the group on Thursday, but he personally hold back questioning Bush's service, sources explain.
The coordinated nationwide effort this week by the DNC has been code-named "Project Fortunate Son."
"George Bush has a clear pattern of lying about his military service," DNC Communications Director Jano Cabrera blasts in the new release. "From 1978 to the present day, George Bush has refused to tell voters the truth about his service. It's time for the President to come clean."
"Flyers distributed to Texas voters during Bush's failed Congressional race say 'he served in the U.S. Air Force and the Texas Air National Guard.' But according to Air Force officials, Air National Guardsmen are not counted as members of the active-duty Air Force."

"This is a big time bomb which was to be their October surprise, but given their collapsing polls, they have decided to bring it on now."
Time bomb? Seems more like a shot from a potato spud gun to me.

Now, they're just grasping at straws. Don't these guys over there know anything? When you have a shitty candidate
When you have a shitty party
When you have a shitty ideology
When you have shitty friends
When you have a shitty life
When you have a shitty web site
Whatta you gonna do?

For crying out loud. She was 17 years old when she had that accident and didn't even know George Bush at the time.
It was a tragic accident that a teenager got into. Happens every day. Is that supposed to disqualify her future husband from holding political office?
Whatever the great unwashed at DU are smoking, they really need to lower the dose.

The Drudge headline is misleading. The scoop is that the ad will blast Bush for having campaign literature in his congressional race 20 years ago saying he served in the air force when he only served in the national guard. Still, such an ad would be incredibily stupid. Kerry seems determined to get his numbers down to the point where they are co-extensive with the numbers that hate Bush.

It depends on the title he served under. If he served under title 10 for the ANG then yes he was USAF, if he served under title 32 then no he was not USAF, because the state command still had control over him.

If at 6th you don't succeed... For crying out loud, we wouldn't want them to disrupt their dogma now would we?
Well, I have to admit that they have one person to blame for their "political misfires" and that person is George Walker Bush!
To coin a phrase....It's Bushes fault!

They also must think that they are making some sort of headway in the polls by hitting his angle. Well, if the forged TexANG memos are the cause of a depression in GWB's showing in the polls, then CBS is in bigger trouble yet. Can't say "no harm, no foul."

"Don't tell me - they tried WordPerfect this time?"
The Dims can't handle WordPerfect... They'd be better off using Notepad.
I hope they don't forget to white out the automatic date field before they print their forrgery, er, I mean official document that they can stand by.

Yes, all the NG stuff is insane, but so is Kerry's harping over and over on his 4 months in Vietnam.
Even the speech he gave last evening to the Black Caucus had suggestive references to his military service (although he didn't mention Vietnam by name -- hehehe).
Like it or not, Kerry's Senate record is going to come in to play. What happened 35 years ago is mostly irrelevant, so Kerry needs to get past it---but he can't seem to.

Nutsmut.
Nicely assonant.
It might also be a medical condition.
To: nwrep
This is semantics!
The TANG DID augment the USAF- pulling rotations to Vietnam under Palace Sentinel (during the time period that Bush enlisted) and sitting 24/7 alert duty under direction of NORAD.
Why do those idiots at the DNC think the TANG was training in air defense and sitting alert duty - to control rioters in Houston?
Of course .ssshhh...When campaiging in TEXAS Bush was ashamed of and tried to hide his affiliation with the Texas Air National Guard/sarcasm

"The amazing thing these are the same crazies who defended Clinton for draft dodging and marching in the streets of Russia! "
indeed; how reassuring is it to have this bunch so concerned about the integrity of our Armed Forces?
esp. in doing so they drag innocent people through the mud, like the deceased LTC Killian and his family.

Let's see where Bush ends up in the polls in a week or two. Seymour Hersh's book on the Bush family is being released this week, and Kitty Kelly's accusations will likely get some press and airtime.

>>Bush went through pilot training through USAF UPT (Undergraduate pilot training). The Guard didn't replicate training -- too expensive. Bush trained at Moody AFB, in Georgia as part of the USAF.
Of course, W served in USAF, that's how he got his wings.
Now, they're just grasping at straws. Don't these guys over there know anything?<<
No they do not know anything about the US military..except thatthey hate it!!

Somebody mentioned this yesterday, and I tend to agree with it .. these cocaine (or drug) charges by Kitty Kelley are being put out there to dilute the Evangelical vote.
IT WON'T WORK - I'M AN EVANGELICAL AND I'M TELLING YOU THEY'RE TOO SMART TO BUY INTO THIS GARBAGE.

the problem is the reporters WANT to make this the issue. Thus they can spend 5 minutes coverning this and ingore the swift vets as "balancing out the odds".
