3 MILLION ILLEGAL ALIENS TO FLOOD THE U.S. THIS YEAR
Sun Sep 12 2004 11:39:54 ET

The U.S.’s borders, rather than become more secure since 9/11, have grown even more porous and the trend has accelerated in the past year. Based on a TIME investigation, it’s fair to estimate that the number of illegal aliens flooding into the U.S. this year will total 3 million, enough to fill 22,000 Boeing 737-700 airliners, or 60 flights every day. It will be the largest wave since 2001 and roughly triple the number of immigrants who will come to America by legal means, TIME reports in its cover story , "Who Left the Door Open?" (on newsstands Monday, Sept. 13th).

In a single day, more than 4,000 illegal aliens will walk across the busiest unlawful gateway into the U.S., the border between Arizona and Mexico. And many will obtain phony identification papers, including bogus Social Security numbers, to conceal their true identities and mask their unlawful presence. TIME’s Pulitzer Prize winning investigative team, Donald L. Barlett and James B. Steele, takes a look at the damage, the dangers, and the reasons America fails to protect itself as millions of illegal aliens pour across the U.S.-Mexican border this year, many from countries hostile to America.

You know, this issue is extremely infuriating to me. Here we are, sending troops to all corners of the globe in order to fight terror, and all the while we are wide-open, sitting ducks, just waiting for another Mohammed Atta , or John Lee Malvo to come in to this country and wreak havoc. What are we doing? The war on Terror needs to be fought on two fronts...where they are, and where we are. How can we expect to stomp out terrorism on a domestic front when we can't control this crisis at the borders? We need to look at these illegals as what they are: intruders. If you came home one day from work, and found someone in your house who wasn't supposed to be there, wouldn't you do something about it? You certainly would. You would get rid of the intruder and have him locked up, and then you would take measures to secure your house against future intruders. Don't get me wrong, I totally believe in free immigration...after all, that's how we all got here to begin with, but we are in desperate need of cracking down on the intruders coming in the back door, our security depends on it.

I dont think we have to build a wall if "homeland defense" would do their job. We need to punish the people who employ illegals. If we stop giving them jobs and the gov.org stops giving them rent, cheese, healthcare etc etc then they will leave on their own.

A national database where you can check pics of the person who claims to be soc. sec. # 324 5376 2736 would give employees no excuse.

But our politicians, bankers, lawyers, corporations, etc that run this country have a reason for allowing the destruction of the middle class. Make no mistake. This invasion is destroying America. Our culture is being divided into two americas with two languages and a lower class that will never assimilate.

<<< somebody's got to fill those $7 an hour jobs down at Walmart so you FReepers can buy those Chinese Communist goods. >>>

Please clarify your meaning of "you FReepers" which, as it stands, is pretty darn inflamatory--as if we WANT to buy "those Chinese Communist goods" to the exclusion of American-made goods--and as if only FReepers shop at Wal-Mart for the express purpose of buying those Communist goods.

Thank you . . . Penny

I drove past Ladd's ranch last Saturday. One of his fences is now decorated with a multitudinous collection of hats found on his land. I'd bet he wishes it was scalps -- or entire heads.

Think I'll drive over and take a picture or two today.

Excellant Point. Sorry to the rest of the Freeper Boys & Girls, but I don't agree with the consensus on this one. To remain the foremost nation on this earth for the foreseeable future we need people.

The answer isn't shutting the borders. The answer is improving the legal immigration program.

Return to the days of Ellis Island. And 3+ Million legal immigrants a year.

No--Not forever--but if we did this for a good 5-10 year period. The lowest level of economic jobs would be filled by legal immigrants and there would be no economic incentive for illegal immigrants arrive.

More importantly, we would get all those hard-working folk out there who are sick to death of their own country (France, Germany, Venezuela under Chavez--what have you) and will make great--Republican voting citizens in this country.

Ask yourself one question--which group really, really hates legal and illegal immigration? Labor Unions. Big, fat, pork-belly, kerry supporting labor unions. Do you really want to have anything in common with them or Bob Herbert (recent anti-immigration article).

I hope to God that Americans never have to experience a school-related terrorist attack similar to what occurred in Russia.

The speculation, repeat speculation, by John Loftus on FNC today was that the video released by UBL's No. 2 could be a call to action for cells in Afghanistan, Iraq and the U.S. prior to elections coming up in all three countries.

I'm trying to look for an article I saw which stated that by the end of 2004, there will be a database from which employers can check the authenticity of SS#'s. However, using the database is strictly voluntary.

People = Power. We need these folks. We just need to change the process--not the numbers.

I've been bashing Pres. Bush hard on these issues.

I'm hoping that after reelection he will take firm action to deal with Illegal Immigration.

Not holding breath.

I watched a documentary on Fox a few months ago.  Fox sent one of their journalist down on the Arizona border.  He interviewed a Border Patrol man and his wife.

They had a trailer right at the fence.  They told Fox that every night, THOUSANDS are coming across the border, and they are NOT all Mexicans.

They have found the books of the Karan and prayer rugs dropped in haste in their front yard on several occasions.

I know a lot of the Muslim's in the United States are decent people, but where are these illegal Muslims going?  SOMEONE has to be waiting for them!

And like all big families, a Mosque might have a "black sheep member."

The Border Patrol and his wife said that they were powerless to stop them.  There is just too many.

"--- but the numbers are certainly believable .."

believable and true are two different things...

believable is based on if you want to believe them or are convinced to believe them, with no connection at all to the truth...Ask the people who believe Clinton or Kerry...

I don't know if it's sinister --- but it looks like Bush feels we need to do whatever to prevent revolution in Mexico and things are heating up over there.

So we're going to move the revolution from Mexico to here?! Now that's forward thinking.

..."To remain the foremost nation on this earth for the foreseeable future we need people"...

I agree. With the concept. But this is about Illegal Immigration. These are precisely the people we DON'T need. Half of LA can't read or write, English OR Spanish. Functionally Illiterate.

Some lop of cr@p standing on the side of the road selling oranges he snagged out of a dumpster out back of Vons is not the future brain trust of this country. Sorry.

Think of the grown man recently mentioned in the article about illiteracy. He was confused by the thought of GOING TO DISNEYLAND.

We don't need an entire nation of special needs patients.

One of the things I fear is that after GW is elected then we are going to see agreements with Mexico that will grow this problem. It was already starting to happen before conservatives got in a tizy about it. After the election it will no longer matter if we get in a tizy or not. Kerry would do the same thing and Kerry is an evil man. Therefore I will vote for Bush of course. But I wish there was some way we could prevent deals with Mexico that will flood the borders with even more illegals. This plan has been put on hold. But I am afraid the plan is far from dead.
