"RATHER BIASED?"--Investors Bus. Daily editorial
Investors Business Daily ^ | Mon. 9/13/04 | Editorial

Posted on 09/12/2004 7:08:12 AM PDT by Timeout

I'm just going to post the last 2 paragraphs. Read the whole thing:

If it's shown that Democrats or the Kerry campaign are the source — as suggested by comments to the American Spectator by an unnamed Kerry staffer — CBS better say so.

If the documents prove to be forgeries, resignations from Rather and CBS News President Andrew Heyward would be in order — along with a sweeping review of ethical practices at a once-proud news organization.

I've been basking in in the misery of DU for the last couple of days, and it just bugs the heck out of 'em that MSM picks up FR's stuff.
They wonder why that's so, but they fail to police themselves effectively, allowing threads like "Laura Bush was a Prostitute" to run rampant. When someone tries to criticize a thread like that (even a long time DU poster), they are called FReepers.

In theory, this would be true if CBS thought of its reputation as something besides a resource to be expended in pursuing its agenda. When the agenda is the thing and almost the ONLY thing, you spend all your cash, go into debt, and write bad checks to pursue it.

I don't think Team Bush needs to insist...I think "WE" need to insist this. Its up to the public to let CBS and the media front know that they no longer are to be trusted. We, the public, via the boards...will take them on...face to face.

From the artile:

For its part, CBS says it won't look further into the memo's authenticity. "Contrary to some rumors, no internal investigation is under way at CBS News, nor is one planned. We have complete confidence in our reporting and will continue to pursue the story."

I think C-BS is afraid to look any deeper into their self-inflicted gaff because they know what they will find.

And it won't be pretty or flattering.

I prefer "Rathergate", it sticks inside the head of a fickle public much better.

I read the editorial pages of my local paper and especially the 'letters-to-the-editor,' to get the locals' take on politics. Nearly all of them would not be acceptable to FR and other disciplined forums because they either don't know the facts or misrepresent them. Part of their problem is their news source. Another is that they don't debate the pros and cons about the issues before presenting them as fact.

Resignations + FCC investigation + billions in fines.

CBS==Conniving Boot Suckers

Frankly, it is so good to see that the calculated conniving evil CBS and Dan Rather democrat party boot suckers would do to our honorable President in their wicked hopes of toppling him in November has exposed the brilliant light of truth on the foul CBS cockroach bastards that dare to call themselves unbiased, balanced and fair newscasters.

"Not only am I old enough to remember the IBM Selectric"

Hey, I am too and although it was a vast improvement to work with, I do remember one had to be a really really good typist to do inserts and corrections.

I remember one of my co-workers complaining that his secretary had so much white-out on the paper it stood up a half an inch.

Agree with you though, last century's media is on it's last old gas bag of oxygen and are quickly racing towards their extinction for which we can truly rejoice.

Isn't it interesting - there seem to be no errors on these documents. If you're old enough to remember Selectrics you're old enough to remember the errors. We forget that back in the olden days most documents would have at least one erasure. Even the errors on the Correcting Selectric showed through. And when did White-out come into general use? The woman who invented it was a legal secretary in Texas and her son ended up as one of the Monkees. She made millions - but was it generally available in the 70's?

I'm not sure...I remember some sort of sticky white tape that could be used, but exactly when white-out was marketed, can't remember.

I do recall though that correction fluid came in pink, yellow, green and blue because some of the forms we had to use and that stuff got all over the place if it didn't dry-up fast enough.

Was it the IBM Selectric II that had the correction ribbon along with the regular type print cartridges?

Columbo! I love it.

I simply cannot get over all of the news since the Swifty ads and then the RNC. Dan Rather should be nominated as "Honorary FReeper of the year." Is there such a thing?

Isn't that a revolting development for Dan Rather! He has to go! Rather needs to pay the price for his smear job ton President Bush and also for his pathetic defense of the smear.

By the way, I knew Lt. Col. Jerry Killian and his wife Marge. (I remember when he died in 1984.) I lived in Houston for 27 years, close to Ellington AFB. I knew many airmen who flew with the Air National Guard there. Everyone I knew who flew with George W. Bush loved him. In fact, in 1995 or 1996, I attended a ceremony which honored then Texas Gov. George W. Bush and dedicated a replica of the airplane that Bush flew.

Dan Rather is following the lead of the man he worships most—William Jefferson Clinton. It was only a few months ago when Rather told Bill O'Reilly that Clinton was an honest man.

Like Clinton, Liar Dan will not change his story until some court decision determines he lied, at which time most of the outrage will be diminished and he then may humbly apologize and claim he caused no harm. It worked for Clinton—why not Rather?

Rather often displays the attitude of royal supremacy ("Do you know who I am?") that runs rampant among most democrat politicians. I do not believe letters of inquiry or outrage to CBS will have any effect upon Rather’s stonewalling attitude for his despicable lack of integrity. I only can hope, but not really expect, some diligent prosecutor with sufficient expertise and appreciation of justice will uncover the evidence with which to justify some Graybar Hotel retirement time for Rather and his corrupt accomplices.

Meanwhile, let us avoid all CBS TV (including evening programs, sports and news) and ask our President to disallow any CBS participation in his news events and political debates.
