I've been basking in in the misery of DU for the last couple of days, and it just bugs the heck out of 'em that MSM picks up FR's stuff.
They wonder why that's so, but they fail to police themselves effectively, allowing threads like "Laura Bush was a Prostitute" to run rampant. When someone tries to criticize a thread like that (even a long time DU poster), they are called FReepers.
I read the editorial pages of my local paper and especially the 'letters-to-the-editor,' to get the locals' take on politics. Nearly all of them would not be acceptable to FR and other disciplined forums because they either don't know the facts or misrepresent them. Part of their problem is their news source. Another is that they don't debate the pros and cons about the issues before presenting them as fact.
