They came from somewhere, and the safe bet it's from the democrats. Unless 60 minutes invented them. The bottom line is that they are forged, therefore a crime, and therefore the journalists decree of 'protecting their sources" does not apply.

>>Who did they steal them from? The doc's were forged by the 'rats.<<

Not necessarily. The Republicans could have set them up, a possibility I find highly amusing.

The Republicans probably were able to identify the rat mole in the Pentagon who forwarded the Abu Grabe photos to the rats. I believe they went through Seymore Hersch. They could have produced the forgeries and allowed the mole to 'steal' them. At least that's what I would have done.

Rather doomed. Doomed he says. Yup, it sucks to be democrats. And bigger problems are there for them. They might as well flee a sinking ship and register as Republicans where sanity exists.

Maybe Danny boy i a "mole"???

This will be batted around like the "who outed Valerie Phlame" story. We know the answer to that, it was Wilson, her lying husband. The democrats have done an incredible amount of lying this election. This is just the latest one, which has turned the focus of the election off everything else.
This is no longer about the war, health care, the ecomony, it's about who is more sutible to lead this country with any sort of moral integrity, the democrats? HA! You can't believe a word any democrat has to say, except Zell.

...North Carolinians had the wisdom to become enamored by.

Not this North Carolinian! It was the effete academics (they really like a 'pretty face')over in RDU who voted the 'Breck Beauty' into office.

No offense - I have many friends in NC, around Shelby and nearby towns, and Charlotte. All my visits to NC have been worderful.

My remark was a wisecrack, that's all. The folks in my hometown of NYC went 4-1 to elect Hilly to the Senate - now that's a missed gut check if I ever heard and much worse than falling for Edwards's lines.

In any case, I heard the scoop was that Edwards was most likely not going to be reelected to the Senate so it was wise for him to retire as an incumbent and try to get a slot on the Dem ticket. As it stands, he won't even be able to deliver NC (which I understand isn't even his home state, which is SC).

Kudos to Tarheels everywhere!

OK, Kerry is french toast, but we still need a big turnout in November to increase control of Congress and win more state races

Absolutely!

Hillary waits in the wings, to step in and "save" the party/"give the voters a real choice" a-la New Jersey 2002.

I've been predicting that and believing that (and hoping I'd be wrong) for more than a year.

I disagree. We have more than enough "liberal republicans" (RINOS'). Let them remain steadfast in their beliefs and continue their irreversible slide into oblivion at the ballot box. Their kind only eats us from within, like cancer.

Amen and Amen.

Do not, I repeat, DO NOT cease efforts. Only INCREASE them between now and November. In this way, we stand the best chance in 100 years to crush the RATs into a pulp-like jelly and strain them into the political sewer. We may well seize control of the nation for several generations just as the RATs did in 1932.

In the case of fradulent documents or false evidence, the reporters have no 1st Amendment protection. Therefore, instead of facing Contempt charges, they'd be looking at felony Obstruction charges.

I'm not a lawyer, so I'm willing to be corrected by someone who knows.

He said that forfeiting the presidential race would be the least of his party's problems if Democrats are tied to any forgery scandal. "The race is over – and we've got bigger problems than that," he warned.

I am wondering, just what did he mean by that?

I'm glad no-one is here to hear me cackle like a crazy hen when I read this.

And to think that it was FReepers who exposed this. What a site! Thank you, Jim, thank you for giving us this site where this could happen.

My guess is he now has a target on his back. You know how fond the Dems are of the truth.

Poor guy, I hope he enjoyed his career.

The rats aren't in any legal trouble over this. Journalists won't reveal their sources (the rats), so the rats won't have to admit they stole the documents. It's the perfect set-up and the rats end up looking like fools.

Who said anything about legal trouble over this? No one has made the contention the docs were stolen, they were faxed to CBS and they are forged. (Who do you steal forged documents from?)

As far as any other docs and their origin, weren't some released by the White House themselves (I assume in just a pile of paperwork under FOI or something.) Is it me who is confused or is there some legal issue here that I'm not aware of?

I would like to see a lawsuit against Rather and CBS for fraud, etc, etc. But that's a non-starter. Since NY Times v. Sullivan, et al, the media can get away with virtually anything. EVEN gross misrepresentation, even if they know it to be false as long as you cannot prove their was Malice involved (See Anderson v. Liberty Lobby, et al.) The standard for malice is almost impossible to meet (but see Mason vs. The New Yorker Magazine on accuracy using quotations.)
