The FNC just had a Rathergate segment with a package by mediocre journalist Kelly Wright --who only refers to President Bush as "Mr. Bush" -- kind of like Jesse Jackson-- and he basically said that the only beef the blogosphere had with the memos was the superscript and that other undisputed Bush docs had a superscript (so basically he's peddling the Rather line). There is so much wrong with the "documents"-- they are clearly forgeries--- even the Wash. Post and ABC and NBC News are saying they most probably are.
The Staudt retirement that renders one memo as total bs, the Hodges defection, the handwriting expert rather than n expert to deal with the typographical issues. There are so many reasons why Dan lied his keister off. Somebody has to go down hard for this. And FNC are giving aid and comfort to Rather. I'd rather they just not cover it if they are going to do so in a , to quote O'Reilly, "powerful protecting the powerful" manner.
I like Kelly Wright. He used to be on a local channel out of Norfolk, VA. He's a good, decent man.
That said, he's a second tier reporter. The big stuff will come from top notch staff.
I have a feeling they're getting all their ducks in a row to come out firing, first on Sun. a.m. show, then Katy-bar-the-door beginning with Fox & Friends Mon. a.m. Much bigger audience than most of the weekend shows.
No, I don't think that so much as I think Fox is stringing conservatives along....ultimately, we're going to have to ask Fox the same questions as the alphabets.
It's a wonder she knows how to write. She needs speech therapy for some of her patterns.
Will Russert hit CBS?
Somebody needs to.
Is it in NBC's interest, with Brokaw retiring, to possibly expedite Rather's demise? Or do they want him to stick around? He does look terrible and he is a discredited mess. Hmmm. Will have to se how this one goes...
What font did you use?
It will be interesting to see how NBC treats another MSM cohort ;)
I wrote FNC too and told them I don't want "fair and balanced". I just want OUR SIDE! If I want their side, I can just turn to all the other stations.
"What font did you use?"
Don't know. I'm not an expert. Whatever you're looking at now. ;^)

It is now longer.

Juan looked very defensive and out of character. The Dem side must really be feeling the heat.
If they were personal, they would have been in his papers at home (stored in the family basement/attic) or found when his office was cleaned out 20 years ago. Assuming of course, that they were genuine (ROFLOL). So they would have had to have been handed over by the family themselves, stolen from the family, or found 20 years ago and held in Al Capone's vault for safekeeping for just exactly this moment in time.
Is there anyone who could legitimately determine this?
No. They were "secret" documents "just" discovered. That's what makes them so mouth-wateringly tempting to the DemonRats. Killian is long dead, and since they were secret notes to himself, nobody else would have known about them -- thus requiring no other corroborating witnesses to attest to their legitimacy.
The 'Rats thought they had set up a hum-dinger of a trap (whom to rebut??), but it backfired in a matter of hours, thanks to (a) FReepers Buckhead, TankerKC, Howlin and others right here on FR who initially raised questions about the appearance of the documents even as the 60 Minutes show was on the air, (b) bloggers who linked to the FR posts and kept the issue buzzing, received numerous additional tips and professional input from real experts on their collective websites, and (c) AlGore, for inventing the internet.
To think, a few years ago this farce would have gone practically unchallenged, other than a few letters to the editor weeks later. The sheeple would have just raised eyebrows, accepted The Media's pronouncement as gospel truth, and that would have been the end of it.
Viva FR!
It was a joke. Har har.
Most of the people in the media who aren't biased are lazy. It wouldn't take Wright but about an hour to bring himself up to speed on this case.
The media, as a whole, tends to focus in on one point of a story and present it as if it were the entire story. It's frustrating.
What they should have focused on is Staudt's retirement, the deadline that makes one memo ridiculous, Matley only being a handwriting guy, the widow and the son, Barnes' daughter, the fact that CBS only started off with photocopies, the fact that
lots of experts think they are forged, the fact that Killian didn't keep private files, the fact that Dan raised money for Texas Democrats in a Barnes run County. More on Barnes ties to Kerry.
More on who provided CBS with the documents and why they aren't saying how they got them.
I mean there are so many storylines that lead to only one place-- Mapes and Rather spending more time with their families.
I knew that! (no, really, I did)
