IN MEMORIAM, SEPTEMBER 11, 2001
One of my websites ^ | September 11, 2001 | Steve Golding and Cacique

Posted on 09/10/2004 7:18:58 PM PDT by Cacique

On September 11, 2001 our nation was attacked. Like many New Yorkers Steve Golding lost a friend in the World Trace Center attack. He created a flash video that became one of the most watched videos on the internet. I was webmaster for WABC radio host Steve Malzberg at the time and contacted Steve Golding to see if we could run the video from our website. It was the most requested video that we had on the site.

It is appropriate that on this anniversary I link to it again so that we can be reminded what this anniversary is all about. Why our friends, neighbors and relatives who serve in our armed forces are sacrificing their lives. It must also serve as a reminder why we must mnake the right choice on November 2, 2004. Too many of my fellow New Yorkers have forgotten or at least they have become complacent, thinking we can negotiate with evil. We cannot.

I am linking to the video so that we can remind ourselves of that day and also so that some newbies to this site who have never seen it may have the opportunity to view it.

You can view the video by clicking on the link below, a new window will pop up. It is a large file (7 megs) so please be patient.

Steve Golding's Video

Steve Golding is also a member of Rolling Thunder and the webmaster of http://www.powforum.org

After the attack and during the recovery a memorial light was put in place. Two powerful spotlights facing the sky where the towers stood. The following shots were taken by me from pier 58 in Brooklyn on April 13, 2002 one day before the lights were switched off. It was also my 50th birthday.

"That picture is really awesome. I had forgotten about it. Thanks!"

You're welcome. It is.

What struck me is that if I had posted it on a liberal website - I think the reponce would have been very different,
"How much FEDERAL money did Bush waste on that picture? There's the soldiers time, film processing and did they use a helicopter? Do you know how much the fuel costs for that! 45 zillion people with no healthcare and this President..."

It is really comforting - especially today - to be a member of this community!

God Bless you and GOD BLESS AMERICA! /end_rant>

Stay Strong,

Thanks for pinging me Misty, and thanks for posting this, Cacique.

I still remember seeing the first plane hit. My oldest daughter and son in law had just moved here from CT, and were living with us. I was running around getting the kids ready for school, and saw it on the news.

We couldn't believe how a pilot could be so stupid. Maybe it was a malfunction, or something. Then the second one hit, and we knew it was intentional. I reluctantly sent my youngest kids off to school. My daughter and son in law wept as they watched the destruction unfold.

My son in law worked in New York. He interned at a financial firm right around the corner from the World Trade Center while he was in college, and worked close by, until they moved here. My daughter had submitted an application to Lehman Bros for a position....located in the World Trade Center. Funny how things work out, isn't it?

I had taken over permanent conservatorship for my mom several months prior, and the woman at the nursing home called me screaming for money. Apparently the temporary conservator hadn't paid any bills. My mom's DMV fees were late, her tax returns weren't filed, etc. I tried to explain to her that there was no way in hell that I going to call the bank to cut a check that big. The bank was Morgan Stanley. Their world headquarters were located...in the World Trade Center. She really didn't care, and I really didn't care for her attitude. I took care of it a couple of days later.

May we never forget what 9/11 means to our country. It is our wake up call.

It's already started here...

Hi, KJ! I'm missing it all. Of course, I'm spending most of my 33-hour Saturday, 9/11, sitting on planes getting from Germany to Seattle. (One flight to go...)

The media has become an extension of the Democratic Party. It lacks objectivity and is no longer reliable. It's way too political.

Cacique, every year at the precision machining company I work with, we stop the machines and all hands gather to honor the fallen of 9/11 and pay tribute to the defenders of America.

I would love to be able to play your video at this observance next year. How might I get a copy of it?

Thanks for what you have done to remind us, "Never forget!"

"Watched a program on PBS last night (I should have known better...) on the attacks on 9/11."

You should have known better!! FOX is doing a decent job remembering, but stay clear from CBS.

In the words of President Bush:

"They'll hear from all of us soon..."

Spoken like a true leader.

Thank you for posting this. I've been meaning to say that sooner, but every time I come here I watch the video and everything becomes too blurry to type. It's blurry now, so pardon any typos.

Thanks for the lyrics, Mud.

A group of students from our local high school is sponsoring a 911 Memorial at 7:00 pm tonight on the courthouse green in Powhatan. I know it will be moving and inspirational as they are the ones who will pick up the flag and carry on this fight for the rest of us.

Looking west, across the WTC site from Church Street, at the World Financial Center

Where much of the media were set up and broadcasting.
And, no, the sign isn't theirs.

Entering the "pit" - site of the ceremony.

Damaged buildings to the immediate south (Liberty Street), including the soon to be demolished Deutsche Bank Building.

Closer view of still-damaged buildings.

"Rap mogul" Russell Simmons lives on the top floor of the building in the center and has put a series of anti-war & anti-Bush signs in the windows facing the WTC site, to the dismay of other residents. Classy guy.

Two losers with their Bush-hating signs at the memorial service just outside of the WTC site. At least they had the decency to remain silent during the ceremony.

WTC #7 being (re)built!
