None of us on FreeRepublic ever will.

It's everyone else's memory that I'm worried about.

It was apparently their year. I hope Bush and Putin can form a team of some kind. If we don't all work together, at least as well as they do, I am afraid we will be lost.

Mrs. olde north church and I were just discussing 9/11. We were watching Nightline and the elitist media discussing about how the unwashed needed to be protected from the images of destruction whether it is terrorism, Saddam/dictator videos, etc. I showed her the Nick Berg video when it was first released and I asked her opinion of the video and if everybody should see it.
She was repulsed and thought everybody should see it then ask people who are against the war how they could be against the war. Mrs. onc is very apolitical, I was quite shocked.
There are a few other aspects to 9/11, we were worried about our next door neighbors, both of whom were damn near killed that day. my wife's co-worker's husband was in one of the towers and climbed down 60 + flights of stairs and wound up in the hospital for weeks with injuries related to the tower being hit. Finally, Mrs. onc's birthday is September 11.

Thanks for pinging me on this.

I forwarded this to everyone in my office group.

It's hard to imagine it will be 3 years since 9/11 tomorrow (technically today, Friday, 09/10 since we had a Leap Year) and seeing these images is like it happened yesterday. I think it should be seen over and over and over again to make us remember why the US is doing what it's doing abroad. Like President Bush said, our heartache turned into righteous anger...

"Let's Roll!"

G*d bless all those lost on 9/11 and those lost since fighting against these demons let loose in our world.

There's no turning back now -- it's either us or them.

The victims-who acted with unparalleled heroism-of September 11th.

May their names live on in history.

We didn't know for 10 days, but by then we had given up hope. I am so very happy that personal loss did not find you. Angels truely worked many miracles that day - I am grateful to God that more were not killed; more than 10 times the death toll was expected.

Still, among all the people that lost precious family members and close friends that terrible day (thats how I think of it - "that terrible day") my family was sorta lucky: they found some of her remains for her parents to bury. Do you know how many people didn't get even that?

I tend to be an undemonstrative-type fellow, but 9-11 will never again bring happiness to me or my family, and has since found me in the Church - usually weeping.

Cantor Fitzgerald is suing the Saudi government for damages: me, I'da nuked 'em flat and glassy.

Thanks again. The video Cacique posted sure is powerful. All of the memories from the other threads and posts just brings it all back. Kerry MUST be put out of his misery. We need a real leader and all of this just helps remind us of how important that is.

Because you are sensitive and you care. That is the one thing that sets us apart so clearly from those who could commit such atrocities.

I was in NY in July 2001 on business and stayed at the Marriott Financial Center Hotel (not the one destroyed but the one two blocks away). I remember walking around the World Trade Centre and despite being an architectural buff, I never had the desire to go up to the top. I remember feeling that "they" were going to come back and finish the job they tried earlier in the 90's.

My next trip to NY was the first Sunday after 9/11 -- one of the first days air travel resumed. I landed at night and crossing the bridge, I could see the absence of the towers and the eery glow of the rescue lights and smoke from the fires where the Twin Towers should have been.

I stayed in Time Square but felt compelled to walk down as close as I could, past the firestation in Greenwich Village where the walls were literally covered with posters of loved ones missing. I got as close as Houston St. where it was blocked to through traffic -- probably 5-6 blocks from the site. I saw one flat-bed truck after another leaving with cars that were crushed into 2-3 foot wrecks. I came back through Union Square where there were so many memorials and so many people from all over the world that it boggles the mind.

I arranged a family trip to NY during Christmas of 2001 to support NY City. Things had changed more dramatically at that point and the city was getting back on its feet. NY is resilient like the rest of the US and I want us all to remember what happened like this video shows without us ever losing hope. Sorry for rambling -- had to get it off my chest!
