HARRISBURG, PA – U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum today issued the following statement:
“John Kerry has clearly decided to take the low road in this campaign. Kerry should keep his baseless attacks on the President's character out of this election and he should keep his negative rhetoric on America's growing economy out of our state. The reality is that 1.7 million jobs have been created in the last year and Pennsylvania's unemployment rate has fallen below the national average thanks to the President's pro-growth policies.

What should Sen. Santorum expect of John F. (Forbes, not [St.] Francis) Kerry? Surely, Santorum's seen this act before: A Roman Catholic who BELIEVES abortion's wrong, but cannot, no matter how hard he tries, flipflop on his voting record for abortion. "No, first trimester abortions aren't enough for the fems; well, no, second trimester abortions aren't enough for the fems; no, third trimester abortions for the fems aren't enough; no, we can't use health of the mother as a restraint; no, I think we've got to allow the mother choose to Cuisinart her full-term baby in order to get the feminist vote. But I don't personally believe in abortion. It's the law, and I'm supporting it." What restraint. What integrity. What compassion. Yes, he's the man I want sending my children into war. Remember a certain comment used against John O'Neill back in 1971? "Saying my country right or wrong is like saying my mother drunk or sober. Sen. (somebody) said 'My country right or wrong; when right . . . when wrong, put it right.'" But he doesn't feel he has to put baby-butchering right. That's just fine because it gets him the feminazi vote.
I'm proud to have you as my Senator. Wish I could say the same for Arlen Specter. As long as he helps carry Pennsylvania for Pres. Bush, I guess it is worth having him as our senior Senator.
