Friday, Sept. 10, 2004 12:59 a.m. EDT Caddell: Dan Rather May Have Cost Kerry the Election
Longtime Democratic strategist Pat Caddell said Friday that if documents aired by CBS newsman Dan Rather Wednesday night turn out to be forged as alleged by experts, the presidential race "is over."
"It would be the end of the race," Caddell told Fox News Live. "It would be the end of the race," he repeated.
"[Democratic officials are] so involved in this," the former Carter pollster worried. "They have gotten themselves so involved in this issue, [in] the last 24 hours, that somebody's going to, if they're not authentic, they're going to be blamed for it. It's incredible to me that they've gotten in this." Caddell said he wasn't trying be sensationalize the issue, explaining that instead, "I'm trying to save my party, you know, by telling the truth."
He said that forfeiting the presidential race would be the least of his party's problems if Democrats are tied to any forgery scandal.
"The race is over - and we've got bigger problems than that," he warned.

The first two media outlets that came out with the 'the documents used by CBS may be forgeries' stories were NBC radio and ABC radio.
I really do think a previous writer is correct - the blood is now in the water, and everyone's going to try to scoop one another to trace back the forgeries. The moment it hits a DNC member, all the media outlets are going to attack, and CBS will then finally admit it was duped and go after them as well...they will have to in order to survive.
This mod really makes a good effort to only weed out the true DemonRats. In fact, he tries to particularly target Democrats who seem to have leadership ability or who are smarter than the average DUmber. He wants to make sure to alienate the ones who do the most for the party and the ones with the most potential.
Of course, if the freeper does a really good imitation of a DemonRat, well they will be at risk. Especially since most of them would be more intelligent than the average lefty. Intelligence, leadership ability, and dedication to the Democrats are the main criteria he uses to deep-six folks.

I thought that because of FL and algore 2004 was the revenge run.
If this breaks the MSM (I can hope), then the dems will be looking forward to hard times to come.
But Kerry is no Hector.
History tells us the Dumbocrats are following in the footsteps of the mid-nineteenth century Know-Nothing Party which collapsed under the weight of its obtuseness, and ceased to be a functioning political force.
Kerry of course could withdraw. The process would not matter for a couple of reasons the least of which is Dems have ignored deadlines for nominees in the past. Any attempt at fighting a new nominee would be met with cries of "denying the American people the right to vote on a President" etc. I don't think anyone would try to save the ship. They would simply let it sink and build a new one in 2008 :)
Oh, and make sure that you get the appropriate superscripts on your screen name... as we know, that's important!
