Then all doubt's should be cleared as of today. FR has done what no free political internet website has ever done before. We have not only broken out into the MSM being credited with finding the fraud in CBS' story on Bush.
But we have our own deep throat's here who blew the whistle in blazing clear daylight.
Typegate is going to sink the Kerry polls 5-10% once people see what his campaign has stooped to. This story is not going away and we will make sure of that.
The DU is biting fingernails left and right knowing they just got busted big time and that they are not as teflon as they thought they once were.
The Clinton years are over....new ballgame in town.
Get used to it.
FR will continue to grow and expand and we will eventually have so much credibility that the media will have no other choice but to report what we are on a daily basis.
Congrats to our folks behind this great discovery.
Oops!
I forgot that Times New Roman type was not in use then except by the press AND that US Govt apparently had a different standard typeface that should have been used for these documents as well.
That and the guy's family all claim he couldn't type worth a darn.
And the lack of letterhead or then standard formatting.
And sparse use of accepted acronyms and abbreviations.
(Note however, NG remains a civilian/military blend and many conventions are not well adhered to)
Nice thing about FR, because some may be geniuses but most of us are just active, is that its strength is in the huge variety of insights that get stirred together to make puzzles fall together so quickly.
I sent this story winging all over the place yesterday, if I had an email address they got it. This am at work did my part by telling my co workers about it. I've been making an impact even with the democrats I work with! You guys are the absolute best. Thank you to all for your hard work and your sharp eyes.
Welcome home, queenkathy.
Well, I can definitely report that Bevis and Butthead Radio, (aka Air America) is milking the fake documents for all it's worth and collecting a huge body of vicious soundbites, for use long after the fact that they are based on a criminal fraud is long forgotten...
Welcome queenkathy!
You're never alone on FR.
Just one warning:
FReeping is addicting. In fact, I've been putting off doing laundry for most of the day. LOL
Just curious; how did you find out about Free Republic?
Here is what I have compiled based on everyone's help:

LOL! Semper Freep!
To: Howlin
Howlin, every single one of these memos to file is in a proportionally spaced font, probably Palatino or Times New Roman.
In 1972 people used typewriters for this sort of thing, and typewriters used monospaced fonts.
The use of proportionally spaced fonts did not come into common use for office memos until the introduction of laser printers, word processing software, and personal computers. They were not widespread until the mid to late 90's. Before then, you needed typesetting equipment, and that wasn't used for personal memos to file. Even the Wang systems that were dominant in the mid 80's used monospaced fonts.
I am saying these documents are forgeries, run through a copier for 15 generations to make them look old.
This should be pursued aggressively.

This would make a beautiful plaque!
"The Power of Free Republic"
And we owe it all to algore for inventing the internet. *wink*
It's time for FR to establish a FreeRepublic Hall of Fame with our first winner.
Ma'am....you will never be alone...again...freepers are cutting edge.
For the record, Typegate is of no relation to me.
