If the real truth ever comes out, I bet that whoever laid their fingers on the keyboard is too young to have ever seen a typewriter being used...
I hope the exposure of this fraud will put an end to the National Guard story for the rest of the election campaign (not that I really expect it to), but it seems to me that the Bush campaign has been too lackadaisical about defending the President...a large part of the public probably has no idea of the amount of time he actually did devote to flying, that his active duty was longer than the time a draftee had to spend in the army, and that he clearly more than met the minimum requirements for each year of his obligation.
I think that Kerry has people in his camp who don't want him to win. I have always been suspicious of the Clintons. They don't want Dufus to win. They also know he is a Dufus and not a leader so all sorts of things can go on right under his nose. This will never lead back to the Clintons but could lead back to the DNC.
what do you want to bet it was printed on kinkos bond.
Wasen't it 60 minutes who, not being able to get a pickup truck to explode, strapped rocket engines to the underside of the truck? They couldn't make the pickup explode from a side impact or something so they stuck the engines on the tank to make the tank explode? I think it was somewhere around 1992 or 93. Then they led the viewers to believe the impact caused it... until they were caught of course.
Hmmmm.... Bobby Hodges?
NEW to Kerry Campaign: Joe Lockhart, Doug Sosnik, Joel Johnson, John Sasso, Howard Wolfson.
The Old Guard: Mary Beth Cahill, Bob Shrum, Tad Devine, Stephanie Cutter.
One or two of these people probably would have at least orchestrated this little episode. If it was somebody afraid of losing a position of (possible) power, then choose from the second list. If you believe in the theory of Clinton wanting to sabotage Kerry, then you gotta pick from the first list.
Maybe Craig Livingstone.......
It was NBC i.e. General Electric, who ended up paying an undisclosed sum to GM as well as having the President of NBC news apologize on the air.
The last time I have seen this much fun around FR quidam was posting.
I like it when we're not fighting and all working together.
Bondiing, eh? :-)
Shhh -- no one must know of the stone cutter brotherhoo.........ack, eikj9-6B1Y9}
My big brother enlisted in the Air Force in 1969. He could have gone to college to get out of the military, BUT HE SERVED. I might add, he, like our president, was honorably discharged.
The fact that Kerry disparaged our Vietnam Vets sickens me, and will until November 3rd.
John Podhoretz (or whatever his name is) predicted this on Hugh Hewitts show earlier today.
...and very, very series.
The only attributes that were probed as possible matches were proportional font (IBM Executive typewriter) and MAYBE the superscript with a special type-bar (no evidence in hand). All the other mismathes seem to break in the direction of forgery. The font itself in not consistent, the vertical spacing is not consistent, etc.).
I dislike the guy, but he's no idiot. Or are you suggesting he made an obvious forgery to gain revenge against Kerry.
Lehane would have taken one look at this crap and passed.
I'm laying my money on the "former military officer". Do a search on Ben Barnes National Guard and a blast from the recent past appears.
