Dan did not seem eager to assume that role yet. A post on another thread said Dan's response to a Freeper who actually got through to him by phone was a defiant: "Who do you believe, me, or your lying eyes?" Whatever that means.

I smell a GOP trap. These guys have been playing the rats perfectly so far and I would not be surprised (though I hope I never find out) that the documents were planted as to make fools out of CBS and generate a backlash against the whole national guard issue. Just food for thought. Rove is pretty sneaking and the closest thing we have had to Lee Atwater since, well, Lee Atwater.

In a much hyped story, CBS features a partisan hack with a long and shady record and produces forged documents. Is their partisanship this naked? Of course my left leaning sister just told me that Rove probably set this up, personally I think Rove would have put together something that took more than 12 hours to figure out:)

I was just reading DU to see how they're reacting. Some people think the documents are real, some think they're fake and were created by Karl Rove, and some think they're fake and don't blame the Republicans for the documents. Needless to say, those who say the latter are getting flamed pretty hard as being freepers!

I repeat: Rick Kaplan (Clinton's best buddy) is back at ABC News from his sojourn at CNN. Everyone might remember it was Kaplan who circulated the memo forbidding the use of the word "scandal" when doing Clinton/Lewinsky stories.

I don't think he is at ABC. He was just quoted in today's New York Daily News as still being head of MSNBC:

They are not in the style that we used when I came in to the USAF. They looked like the style and format we started using about 12 years ago (1992). Our signature blocks were left justified, now they are rigth of center...like the ones they just showed.

Can we get a copy of those memos?
