UPDATE 12: In the August 18, 1973 memo "discovered" by 60 Minutes, Jerry Killian purportedly writes:
Staudt has obviously pressured Hodges more about Bush. I'm having trouble running interference and doing my job. But wait! Reader Amar Sarwal points out that General Staudt, who thought very highly of Lt. Bush, retired in 1972.
The more I look at these "memos," the more obvious it appears that they are inept forgeries.

May I ping a few friends?
Pingeth away!
This sounds like the sort of stunt a producer would attempt. The producer is the #1 suspect. Anyone got a name?
Right about now I would suspect that Dan Blather is Dan (empty) bladder.
thanks for the ping, had'nt seen this one. It just keeps getting better and better!
Did you just notice? The man has such a swollen sense of pride that he is sticking to his story saying the memos have been authenticated. Until he names names, I ain't buying it.
This is great....the RATS are doing such of poor job of being liars these days. Liar Liar Liar pants on fire ;o)
Nobody ever said they were smart.
Yes, but if Kerry were not so wobbly they would not be able to sink him so easily. He is just getting what he deserves. Let's hope the rest of the rats do too!
You just made my day!
Laughing,
Richard F.

...Retired Brig. Gen. Walter Staudt, who gave Bush his direct commission as a second lieutenant out of Yale University in May 1968, said the Texas Air Guard had nuclear-capable jets, including F-101s and F-102s.
But I never heard of an F-102 carrying a nuclear weapon, so I don't see why you think these regulations would have applied, the 81-year-old retired general said.
I love the guy, Staudt said of Bush. I'm so tired of this negative crap about him that I'd like to volunteer to build a barn and take you press guys out behind it and kick your asses. ...
Didn't it all seem to happen at once, so fast? Same as when Dean imploded.
Wouldn't it be Real cool to drive Gunga Dan from the desk over this?
Has anyone seen Registered recenly?
You are cracking me UP! It wasn't that long ago we just wanted a talk radio show. LOL!
It's so true. I've been riding this story all day, too. Wow!
Peter Nuss unearthed that find, not Amar Sarwal. I just wanted to clarify, because credit does not belong to me, but rather to Peter Nuss.
