Hugh Hewitt has done a magnificent job this afternoon on the Killian memos. He requests that the FReeper do a thread citing what the Globe and others said before they knew it was a fraud. Have at it.

I need to be added to the HH ping list.

I've just recently got hooked on his show and he's a Cleveland sports fan just like me.

You are now ON my "Hugh Hewitt" PING list! :o)

These notes were equivalent to journal notes, in other words private. Bridge notes are not particularly private.

Dan Rather used these forgeries in an attempt to bring down a Presidency. He needs to apologize to President Bush and then resign for this disgusting abuse of his power.

Pray for W and Our Troops

See my comment above regarding Byron York trying to get a response out of CBS, that would have first broadcast after 6 PM EST.

Yes I saw the show earlier

I liked the part where an FNC producer re-typed the memo and it matched up exactly to the so-called Killian memo

As of 2148 PTime, The New York Times has:

Army Says C.I.A. Hid More Iraqis Than It Claimed

as it's top story. Nothing on Page 1 about this fraud.

At 10:07pst, Yahoo headlines is still featuring the following AP piece. Note that at this very moment, CBS radio is acknowledging the authenticity of their own documents. As of 10;05, they had posted a story over 2 hours old that made no mention of the CBS scandal at all. In the time it took to grab the story, it changed... not by much.

By TERENCE HUNT, AP White House Correspondent

WASHINGTON - New documents unearthed in the midst of the presidential campaign fill in some blanks but raise other questions about the sometimes mysterious and spotty story of President Bush (news - web sites)'s military service during Vietnam when he won a coveted spot in the Texas Air National Guard and avoided the war.

Reviving issues that have shadowed his political career, the documents show Bush ignored a direct order from a superior officer and lost his status as a Texas Air National Guard pilot more than three decades ago because he failed to meet military performance standards and undergo a required physical examination.

But the authenticity of the memos was questioned Thursday by the son of the late officer who reportedly wrote them. One of the writer's fellow officers and a document expert also said Thursday the documents appear to be forgeries.

Still, the documents marked the second time in days the White House had to backtrack from assertions that all of Bush's records had been released. They also raised the specter that Bush sought favors from higher-ups and that the commander of the Texas Air National Guard wanted to "sugar coat" Bush's record after he was suspended from flying.

Less than two months before the election, the documents turned the spotlight on Bush after weeks of political attacks questioning John Kerry (news - web sites)'s military service in Vietnam. Overshadowing issues such as jobs and the economy, that controversy raised doubts about Kerry and hurt him in the polls.

Kerry, campaigning in Iowa, refused to talk Thursday about the new Bush documents. "That's for the White House to answer," he said in an Associated Press interview.

That should have read, CBS radio was acknowledging questions concerning the documents' authenticity.

AP blows right by it to render their accustations. Well, here they are so Mr. Hunt can't eat them later.
