BushGuardaugust1 memo - a FAKE
CBS, self | 9/9/04 | Carl Donath

Posted on 09/09/2004 2:09:48 PM PDT by ctdonath2

Proof the CBS document BushGuardaugust1.pdf is a FAKE:

Original text, slightly adjusted for rectangular fit:

Same text, screen capture of document written in MS Word 2002 with no effort to match original aside from document width:

Overlapping images, with original as B/W negative:

Aside from slight warping presumably due to distortion introduced by a low-quality photocopier, the two texts line up exactly. The "30+ year old proof" against Bush is a fraud.

The overlay example on this thread defies randomness.

Probability pretty much demands that this letter is a fake.

This has been asked so often. Not only are typewriters of all sorts dirt cheap at antique stores/shows/flea markets, ribbons of all sorts are, as well. Some folks collect them for the boxes/tins, which had pictures and graphics.

I conclude that someone young did this. Someone well under 40. Someone who isn't necessarily interested in frequenting antique shows/shops/flea markets. Someone who is only familiar w/Word/PhotoShop & et al.

Maybe it evolved. Or maybe it is the Piltdown font.

In the first sentence, the "1st" clearly has more spacing between the 1 and the letter s. How is that explained?

Two possibilities:

1. The "original" has a gradual variation of width, as not all matches up exactly everywhere. This is likely due to a series of faxing/photocopying operations, where analog optical errors were introduced.

2. The font rendering software may be slightly different between the systems that I used and the forger used, causing a slightly different spacing/kerning in certain character combinations.

Don't miss the forest for the trees.

Maybe Peter and George are looking forward to Hillary in 2008, an unlikely development if Kerry wins this one.

...I believe the FBI is also capable of determining when, where and by whom a paper was made and how old that particular sheet of paper is, which businesses and government agencies ordered/used that type of paper, etc. I also believe they have vast resources permitting them to identify the properties of inks used in things like pens... and typewriter ribbons.

CBS is standing by it. They will force it to be absolutely proven that it is a forgery.

Before claiming a slam dunk, you should know that Times Roman has been around since the 1930s.

I'm aware it may have been around a while. The problem I show above is that I mimicked the "original" in seconds - right down to all horizontal and vertical spacing, kerning, line breaks, etc.

Are you a producer on Fox News?

Nope. Just some schmoe with a computer, a website, and "let me try that" curiosity.

I'm proud of our activities post-election in 2000. Who can forget our chants of "Slobodan Gore!" or "Get out of Cheney's House" outside the gates of the Naval Observatory in DC? We freepers have taken the conservative movement out of the shadows and into the street - what was once the sole domain of the dims and their leftist ilk.

The slient majority of the '70's and '80's is no more, we are meeting in places like this and are pushing back the tides of socialism.... I am so proud of our freepers! Warriors for Truth!

All one has to do is get a computer, a printer, and use pre-formatted text....:

Now is the time for Dan to go drink the Kool-Aid of his party.

B, they will not get an original, just this copy of a copy of a copy from what I see.
They can only go by the typewriters of that time and maybe office inventory lists of what they had.
In addition, having a retired man still writing official documents for the government a year after he was gone from there is absolute proof of fraud right there IMO!

As far as how far they can go, if they wanted to say there were carbon paper copies and other copies, all they have to do to reproduce that is to again use word, plus ONE other step.
They would then use a pin printer to do the memos and make the carbons.
They could date the carbons if they exist though!!!!

Fortunately, not much of that is going to be necessary.
CBS has admitted the kerry campaign handed off the docs to them.

When CBS aired the allegations, they said it was all "thoroughly investigated" and that their "experts" had assured them of the docs authenticity.

CBS spokeswoman has also said that the "experts" were actually "witnesses" (whatever that means, the salient point being that they did not, in fact, have the "experts" they initially claimed to have).

CBS has also contradicted their original claim of "thoroughly investigating" by saying they had "suspicions" about the docs before airing. People who "thoroughly investigate" have presumably laid those suspicions to rest, so it looks like they didn't "thoroughly investigate" a damn thing.

CBS said they "stand by the story," and now they've changed that to "looking into any possible error." Huh?

CBS executives are huddling into the night to deal with this crisis. People who have "thoroughly investigated," called in "experts," and "are standing by their story," do not do that. Only liars who have gotten found out do that.

I could go on and on, but the point is obvious. These people, especially Rather, are bald-faced liars.
