To: Lion Den Dan
This has been asked so often. Not only are typewriters of all sorts dirt cheap at antique stores/shows/flea markets, ribbons of all sorts are, as well. Some folks collect them for the boxes/tins, which had pictures and graphics.

I conclude that someone young did this. Someone well under 40. Someone who isn't necessarily interested in frequenting antique shows/shops/flea markets. Someone who is only familiar w/Word/PhotoShop & et al.

I agree, and would add that they have probably never seen a daisy wheel or ball type / selectrix - let alone ever having used one
