Two demonstrations Saturday -- one rallying support for the war in Iraq, the other protesting it -- will turn the Circle into a symbol of the nation's divisions.
Hundreds of people are expected to gather at 11 a.m. on the south side of the Circle in Downtown Indianapolis for a rally sponsored by Move America Forward. The California group bills the event as a memorial on the third anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks and a rally for troops fighting terrorism abroad.
As the rally ends about 1 p.m., a group of anti-war demonstrators plans a news conference to discuss an exhibit called "Eyes Wide Open" -- more than 1,000 pairs of Army boots with the names of troops who have died in the war in Iraq, placed in rows on the north side of the Circle.
Authorities are prepared to deal with any clashes between the two groups, said Steve Campbell, a spokesman for Mayor Bart Peterson.
Politicians, firefighters and military officials are expected to attend the Move America Forward rally, which will have the theme "Believe in Freedom."
Organizers say they are staging the event to counter media and politicians who "bombard us with negative news about the war" while ignoring positive developments, said Jackie Loughman, chairwoman of the Indiana chapter of Move America Forward.

C'mon Indiana Freepers -- we can't let the anti-war crowd outnumber us!!
Rally Ping
You've got to come down to Monument Circle on Saturday and bring your friends and family -- our soldiers need you.
Why don't these people have 1,000 empty children's sneakers to commemorate the deaths of innocent children around the world from terrorism (whether in New York, Russia, Iraq, Afghanistan, or elsewhere)?
Oh yeah, that's right - because instead of demonstrating against terrorism they demonstrate against the forces that fight for FREEDOM!
Thanks! I'm planning to be there.
Hope to see you then!
Too bad we don't have fifty million sandals or something to represent the people freed by the U.S.' fine troops.

Cheers
Jim
I heard the anti-war crowd said they will have a memorial to Iraqis who died in the war. I assume that includes Uday and Qusay?
I agree, but I'm a Mississippi FReeper:)
It's worth the drive :) LOL!
If I could I would love to:),but isn't that jackass going to be in N'Awlins soon? I could go there if a group was going. (WAAAYYY too dangerous to do by myself in that city).
I plan on being there.
Would I be labeled as a cynic if I expect that all of the violence will come from the "pacifists"?
Hopefully the article will help us get more people out there. My worry is, it'll help the bad guys too.
I have a sneaky suspicion the cops aren't worried about our side.
JOHN KERRY'S "TWO AMERICAS":
Those who eat at Wendy's vs. those who only go to Wendy's for photo ops
SUGGESTION: Co-opt their 'boots' photo-op by using it as the focus for a group prayer by OUR GUYS. The message: let not their sacrifice be in vain. They died for a noble cause: freedom for Iraq and safety for America. We honor them and those still 'over there' by rededicating ourselves to support of their mission.

Unsolicited advice, worth every penny...
Sounds like a great idea -- and you get to lead the prayer!
"Those who eat at Wendy's vs. those who only go to Wendy's for photo ops"

LOL Noticed John Kerry's "Two America's" is an old old line that he used in his early 70's book, the New Soldiers.
I guess the two America's are the Haves and the Have not's and their photo ops says .. "hey, We can pretend to be you little people too", aren't we wonderful.
 spook
