If its a credit card, stop the payment and dispute it in writing. Also, write the FTC. It can't hurt.

Make sure you cancel your Credit Card as well! Tell them you want a new account number...DON'T TAKE ANY CHANCE! The RATS ARE EVIL AND DISHONEST!

That should be illegal as hell. Seems like fraud to me.

No need to call the cops. Let's just make sure the perp gets lots of publicity, and the problem will take care of itself.

Just because there's computer technology involved doesn't mean this isn't fraud. Imagine if someone came to your house asking for a contribution for some charity. When it comes time to sign, he substitutes a contribution form for the DNC. You are in a hurry so you sign. Well, pretty much the same thing happened to you. Make a big stink. Someone should do a news story about these tactics.

Call and forward this to your state's attorney general ASAP, but if they are a Democrat then also contact the US District Attorney's office for your area(google him/her to make sure they aren't a Clinton appointee)

I tried to post the link that was my receipt from the DNC. Instead it comes up looking for donations. I apologize --

I have called my credit card company. They said I cannot remove the transaction until I receive the bill and dispute the charge. Any suggestions?

You should by all means let the SwiftBoat website know that the demonicrats are using their name to get contribustions for the demonicrat party. If your email has the option, choose "mail sent" and it will give you the email address to whom you sent your contribution, and let the authorities know, especially the Attorney Generals Office, because if the solicitors of your contributions are out of state, they have committed fraud across state lines, making this a Federal Crime.

Below is the email I got from them

**********************

I would like to extend my sincere and personal gratitude for your generous contribution to Swift Boat Veterans for Truth. I am sure you have seen the impact your contribution has had on the public discussion surrounding Senator Kerry's fitness for duties as Commander-in-Chief.

You have helped us to raise awareness of these important issues - and the American people are beginning to respond.

We would not be where we are today, with what we have accomplished, without your help. Our mission is far from over, however.

John Kerry's campaign - aided by a sympathetic media - has responded to our work by evading our criticisms and turning up the volume on their attacks. They have attempted to discredit our efforts by falsely tying us to the Bush campaign.

Their attacks will only get louder and more strident because they know that, on the merits, we cannot lose.

Our work has struck a chord with the American people, including many Vets, who have come to the Swift Boats web site and pledged their support. You have already done so much to help us, but I'm here now to ask you to help once more. We are at a critical point in this effort and we must keep our ads - including some new ones which I think you'll really appreciate — on the airwaves in key battleground states. We are up against the big guns, and we now need to make sure they can't drown us out.

For this reason, I am asking you to consider matching your previous contribution. If that's not possible at this time, every little bit helps. The quickest way to donate is by clicking on the logo below:

Swift Boat Veterans for Truth
C/O Weymouth Symmes, Treasurer
P.O. Box 26184
Alexandria, VA 22313

You can lend a hand, as well, by passing this information on to other friends you think might be interested in helping us tell the true story of John Kerry.

Please remember that Swift Boat Veterans for Truth is an independent group under section 527 of the Internal Revenue Code and is not affiliated with any political party or candidate for public office. Contributions to Swift Boat Veterans for Truth are not tax deductible for federal income tax purposes. Federal tax law requires us to collect and report the name, mailing address, occupation and name of employer of each individual whose contributions exceed $200 in a calendar year. Therefore, please be sure to provide us with this information so that we can satisfy our reporting requirements.

Thank you again for your support of the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth.

Sincerely,
Roy Hoffman, Admiral, USN, (retired)

I got the thank you email and contributed again. I got this back from them:

From:admin@swiftvets.com

Thank you for contributing to the support of Swift Boat Veterans for Truth.
This email is your receipt for your contribution of $xxxx
Your transaction number, which will appear on your credit card statement, is
xxxxxxxx

I believe the thank you email is valid. Fortunately for me I do believe my money got to the right place.

I'm sorry you had this problem.

"They said I cannot remove the transaction until I receive the bill and dispute the charge. Any suggestions?"

All you have to do is say if they don't remove the charge, you are going to close all your accounts with them and move to another bank, and watch how cooperative they can become....all of a sudden. They will find a way.

Long shot, but can you call a news station and report it as a scam and have them look into it? Maybe it will get some publicity? Just a question,,,

I received an e-mail at 2:07p today (9/8/04) from the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth. Half-way down the page I clicked on the ship to donate. An address was given for checks to: Swift Boat Veterans for Truth
C/O Weymouth Symmes, Treasurer
P.O. Box 26184
Alexandria, VA 22313

Further down, the letter was signed by Roy Hoffman, Admiral, USN with a link to www.swiftvets.com. I later received a thank you from admin@swiftvets with a transaction #. I saw nothing out of order, however, I could have turned away from my computer and did not see a pop-up.

Is this the same e-mail you are talking about?

Look at the email address and then go to the Swiftboat website and see whether the email address on the thankyou note matches the one at the SwiftBoat website. If they don't match, you may have been scammed. This does, however, look legit, but MAKE SURE. We can't afford to be giving aid and comfort to our enemy, the demonicrat party.
