I fear an American child slaughter is planned (Minnesota)
opinion | 8 Sept 04 | FinalApproach29er

Posted on 09/08/2004 6:58:09 AM PDT by Finalapproach29er

An excerpt from Steyn's latest has me suspicious that a slaughter of schoolkids is planned for America soon-maybe before the election.

Here is Steyn excerpt:

Could what happened in Beslan happen in the US? Two months ago, the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reported on a fellow called Mohamad Kamal Elzahabi, a suspected terrorist who'd fought with his fellow jihadi in Chechnya and somehow wound up in Minnesota, where he'd applied for licences to transport hazardous materials and drive school buses.

***

Now, what if some less suspicious "white-looking" Chechen, or female, or some local recruit(s) starts driving school bus and and shows for work up one day and rigs a bus full of kids with explosives? Background checks can be defeated with enough planning. I doubt the enemy will make the same mistake twice.

We are catching way too many suspects up here in Minneapolis. Wonder if this is happening in your city also?

After taking martial arts for a sohrt period of time, I have quickly realized that mind set has a lot do with ones ability to defend themselves.

I highly suggest you go to the site www.attackproof.com

I am taking lessons from Perkins himself right now and ordered the tapes. The tapes are really good because everything that is taught is simple things any person can do. No kicks or spinning moves, simple strikes that all people should be prepared to use in case of an assault, attack, or otherwise.

As far as I am concerned, every person should own a gun who wants one and does not have a criminal record. I part company with some on this board and think that training should be required. It not only is the prudent thing to do, but it might save their life if they ever need to use the gun in self defense.

Imagine the combination of a school massacre and the deaths of dozens of poll workers and voters on Election Day!

*sigh* I hate you.

Yes, it would be too late to have an impact on the election itself,

No it's not. If it happens at the first bell east coast time, there is plenty of time to impact voting all across the nation.

Since I already hate you, I'll go you one better. Rather than a bomb, a Beslan style hostage crisis...

Hello,

I'm sorry, but the thought popped into my head when I read how they prepared. I agree that larger schools in more urban areas are probably more at risk than smaller schools, but, with these evil bastards, who knows? Other than homeschooling, I don't know that there is much we can do to stop such an attack before hand. Our schools have little to no security, no one is armed, most, if not all of the adults have no training on how to overcome the threat.

Despite the subject, I am glad to be here, MOgilr

Yes, we did these drills. Hands over the back of the head/neck and under the desk you went. Central New Jersey (35 miles from NYC) 1955 - 1960.

We also had a Nike missile base complete with underground silos about 2 miles from where I lived. Very scary!

Laura saying the President should give a major address to the American people, spelling out the threat from terrorism around the world.

No way. If he did that, he'd bring the economy to a screaming halt in a day, as millions of Americans took off from work to liquidate their 401K's and put their cash into ammo and MRE's.

There's a brilliant and too-close-to-true line in Men in Black: something like, "The only way people can get on with their lives is if they don't know what's really going on out there."

I really believe our schools are next. I wonder if they would target the Christian private schools first though. Wasn't the Beslan school a Christian one too?

I wish I could remember the person who said this, it was on Monday. On Fox, I think he was a former Special Forces guy.

He had such a worried upset look about him. Said the Jewish schools in this country had better all be on top of this. He was very very worried, specially mentioned the Jewish schools.

I thought he was going to cry, when talking about the children in the school in Beslan.

I had 'Duck and Cover' drills when I was a kid. Not an urban legend for me.

I went to school on a Marine Corps base (MCAS Beaufort), so may experience may not be typical.

Where were you?

One of the terrorists who survived and who tried to escape, went out through a window.

He was immediately caught by the townspeople gathered outside, and was literally torn apart, actually torn apart, according to a man who watched it.

And the man watching it said it did not occur to him for one minute that this was the death of a human being, but was rather a serpent being killed.

There's a way to get rid of this possibility, or at least to minimize its impact.

This is a world of computers. Destroy the school buildings or sell them off, have the local school district instead issue each student a computer if they do not have one at home. Have the classes online.

This is a process that can happen today if we got behind it and made it happen.

College courses are taken online all of the time. There is no reason on earth that we can't do this for grade school through high school.

It doesn't necessarily have to be done exactly like this, but the possibilities of doing something similar to this is legion.

Right now all of our kids are in one "Known" location. Break up the target area and create hundreds of thousands of target areas and you make survivability not only more realistic but you also take away a tool of terror from the Isamonazis.

If you need the classroom atmosphere, parents could get together and have their homes for a small group of children used for this purpose. Something that could be changed from time to time to give the kids a new or different location.

Homeschooling is also another possibility.

We have to start thinking outside the box in order to defeat the Terrorists and protect our loved ones.

Eight year old wants home-schooling. He may well get it. Older children want their public school. They are free Americans too.

Actually this might scare some parents into homeschooling.

There have been many good, and scary reasons to take our kids out of these public schools for some time, but out of laziness, convenience, etc we have left them in.

I am guilty of leaving mine in when I knew well the garbage they were trying to brainwash my kids with.

May God protect all children and send angels to stand between them and evil.

Amen.

You hear shooting, explosions, screams, you run in the opposite direction, head low. Hide in the woods. Teacher blocks the door, you go out the window.

Some of the children in Beslan must have known this, maybe just instinctively.

After the siege was over, I think hours later, a group of children was found hiding somewhere in the basement. They had hidden themselves right away and never went through what was going on upstairs.

I'm sure they didn't have any food, maybe there was water nearby for them though. But at least they didn't have to see what was going on, which will never leave the minds of the rest of the survivors.

***And we are not a land of mob rule.***

American parents? Oh yeah, we would be a land of mob rule, albeit temporary. The primitive still lives in us when it comes to our children. We have not suffered local terrorism as other lands have and therefore have not developed a degree of numbness to the violence.

I am to the right of Free Republic, and I teach. By the way, there ARE a number of conservative teachers. You'll just never see or hear them in the media.
A main reason it is not sensible to arm teachers, as I have posted elsewhere, is the responsibility to safeguard a firearm in a room full of children cannot fall to girls in their early 20s with some quick rush training procedure. However I am all for having a good number of key personnel armed.

I posted this on another thread:

"...a man was spotted last fall standing in the driveway of the Beis Yakov girls school in Baltimore with a video camera, said Maryland Jewish Alliance director David Conn.

"Conn said the suspect never provided a 'good explanation' for his actions, although the police determined he was a Saudi national who was in the country legally."

I'm actually surprised it hasn't happened here yet.

But I think the only thing stopping it is the terrorists know for a fact what will happen to their goal if they proceed down this road.

We will wake up with a vengeance, most of the moslems will be booted out, no matter if they're extremists or not.

And that will be the end of the islamization of America for a long time, if ever.

I fear that any such attack on American children like the one in Russia would be met with a very angry mob toward the perpetrators. Most likely it would end in instant justice

I'm afraid what you would see, is what we alway see. Congressional meetings and speeches from the floor condemning the horrible incident. You would be told about the peaceful Religion of Islam and how we all need to remain calm.

Anyone who in anyway looked crosswise at a Muslim would be convicted of a hate crime as an example.

You would see more laws passed that in reality only control those that are willing to obey them to start with. No round up and deportation of illegals . No denial of entry into the country from the nations that harbor , finance and train the butchers that the cult of death that Islam breeds on a daily basis.

No, just an expression of outrage and then in a month or so business as usual for those not directly affected.

The only way you may see the reaction you should see is if they hit Wall Street in a big way or if they hit the Congress while it's in session. Something that might affect the pocketbooks or the safety of the powers that be. Not over school children in rural America.

We are rapidly becoming civilized like Europe. A nation of talkers and tolerance and not freedoms and fighters.
