An excerpt from Steyn's latest has me suspicious that a slaughter of schoolkids is planned for America soon-maybe before the election.
Here is Steyn excerpt:
Could what happened in Beslan happen in the US? Two months ago, the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reported on a fellow called Mohamad Kamal Elzahabi, a suspected terrorist who'd fought with his fellow jihadi in Chechnya and somehow wound up in Minnesota, where he'd applied for licences to transport hazardous materials and drive school buses.

Now, what if some less suspicious "white-looking" Chechen, or female, or some local recruit(s) starts driving school bus and and shows for work up one day and rigs a bus full of kids with explosives? Background checks can be defeated with enough planning. I doubt the enemy will make the same mistake twice.
We are catching way too many suspects up here in Minneapolis. Wonder if this is happening in your city also?
The fact that you're catching them is a GOOD thing. Let's hope that other cities do the same.

I fear that any such attack on American children like the one in Russia would be met with a very angry mob toward the perpetrators. Most likely it would end in instant justice.

Install bullet-proof doors it the school buses !

We would be powerless if a bus with kids was rigged to blow in MSP of some other American city. They would wait a little to make Bush look powerless, then commit suicide.

Rightly or wrongly, mosques across the USA would be in ashes. It would be ugly and almost unrestrainable, knowing the American national mentality which is quite different when provoked, probably more akin to angry Indian Hindus. To know the American people is to know of these very possible, and probable, responses.

There was talk of that in Colorado after Columbine, of training and arming teachers and principals.

No. Allow volunteer teachers to carry concealed.

P.S. A teacher volunteering to conceal carry is NOT an NEA dork, IMASHO.
I hope people in authority are on guard for this possibility.

And talking about the boys' school in Afghanistan that was blown up over the weekend.
This is another reason to immediately remove all your children from schools and home educate.
Our school is too small to be a target, just four students. the teacher has a small variety of defensive weapons at her disposal. Some of the student body is somewhat proficient as well.
What about when your kid is picked up in the morning by a driver who brings explosives on the bus that morning. How can that be stopped? No other adults on the bus; its hopeless pretty qiuckly.
Sooner or later, if the will is there, background checks can be circumvented by recruiting less suspecting fanatics.
That being said, I fully expect to see an attack on an American school. No doubt someone will say something inanae, such as "We'll bring the killers to justice" as if courtroom hearings were the answer to dealing with insurgents who are willing - nay, eager - to die for their cause.
This will never happen in America because guns aren't allowed in school. There is a law preventing it.
