Police looking for man wanted on Canada-wide immigration warrant
TORONTO -- Police are looking for a man from Bangladesh, wanted on a Canada-wide immigration warrant, who is suffering from highly contagious tuberculosis.
Police say Jaman Uzzol, 25, was in the custody of Canada Immigration officers at the William Osler Health Centre when he escaped Sunday.
Uzzol suffers from tuberculosis and is thought to be contagious. Anyone coming in contact with him should take precautions to guard against contracting the highly contagious disease.
He is described as 5-foot-10, with brown skin, thin build, short black hair and dark eyes. He has a deformity to the fingers on his left hand.
When last seen, he was barefoot, wearing traditional black east Indian cotton pants and a blue hospital gown.
Oh, lovely.
Well, that's useful. Like what? The news release has everyone's attention, but then fails to convey information about what precautions one might take.
The perfect bio terrorist....
But, if it's AIDS, forget it, shut up, and moveon. Ahh, modern times.
Illegal immigrants... bring in the tuberculosis that citizens won't bring in themselves.
I recall reading US statistics about tuberculosis being on the rise due to immigration.

That's exactly my first thought, given his name.
What is his country of origin?
What is his religion?
[What a perfect set-up. If he is caught and deported,
we are insensitive. If he is let go, he can start
epidemics with perfect deniability. Just another
reason to carpet-bomb Mecca with Jimmy Dean pork
sausages and Oscar Meyer bacon!]
Well, on the bright side, I believe Toronto is the largest "Western" (for the time being) city without a subway.
Yes, why else would he want to flee from free health care.
I don't think it was because he couldn't see the doctor of his choice.
And a sallow, "consumptive" look ....
Sorry, foreign folk of good will, the world has grown too dangerous not to tighten up our borders. We don't want terrorists and we don't want super-bugs either. Our people are sacred to us, they are family and we put our family first. We prefer to exterminate terrorists and super-bugs in their breeding pits and not in our streets. Canada thought differently and there are some nervous pathologists in Toronto this evening.
Uh, maybe I'm not reading between the lines here, but Toronto does have a subway system.
I recall listening to Radio Canada (just before the SARS thing) saying that a push was on for Toronto to get a subway
system, since for a city of their size...blah, blah, blah.
Perhaps I got the context wrong?
