Dobson Tells Christian Voters 'Enough is Enough' by Gary Schneeberger, editor
About 6,000 attend Focus on the Family Action's first "Stand for the Family" rally, hear exhortations to make their voices heard this Election Day.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. Focus on the Family Action kicked off its series of "Stand for the Family" rallies here Monday night before a crowd of about 6,000 that did more than its share of standing leaping to their feet at least a dozen times to cheer a quartet of speakers who exhorted them to make their voices heard on Election Day, too.
"It would be very encouraging for me to hear from you all tonight," Focus on the Family Action founder and chairman Dr. James Dobson said in greeting the obviously charged audience inside Charlotte 's Cricket Arena. "If this were a basketball game or a football game you'd do some yelling and stomping. And I hope you will tonight."
They did not just for Dobson, but also for Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council; Bishop Wellington Boone of Promise Keepers and Gary Bauer, president of American Values and a former Republican candidate for president.
"The issues before us are so very critical. I mean, it's now or never," Dobson told them. "I really believe that the institution of the family is going to survive, or fail, in the next year and probably this year. It is hanging on the ropes, literally. And so many people of faith, so many good people have sat around sometimes myself included for 35 years and let everything we care about erode away. 'Enough is enough.'

I agree, and would have done so had I known...however, we have been so involved in a construction project that I had not been listening to radio lately. See what happens when we get to busy!
I see this as important enough to reschedule some things and go. It is a Vote for Bush rally also, to show that he is the best choice if we are to get the Marriage Amendment passed. This is a critical time for christians and if we don't stand up, no telling what another election will be like. He spoke of a bill in House of Representatives and I need to do some research on it, do you know of it??

Of course, what we really need is the latter rain outpouring of the Holy Spirit, which will empower the church, and flood the Earth with love, joy, and peace, and destroy all the works the devil, and usher in His Kingdom.
"For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ." Galatians 1:10
NO, and I think you miss the point. IF this is not done, we will see erosion of every moral fiber of America. If you don't already understand that, then I don't know what to tell you, maybe someone else has the time to explain it. It is KEY to protecting the United States of America.
WE were given the power "in Jesus name" to destroy the works of the devil. The Holy Spirit works through us, ours is not a passive christianity. Yes, I believe it is a great time to go to Wash, DC, and stand up for Jesus, Marriage and President Bush. Most people take a fall break anyway, why not Washington, DC.
You can't be series, can you?
It is..or was..all of our responsibility and we blew it.
Sounds like you have thrown in the towel, which is your right. At least stay out of the way of those of us who still are working on the problem.
Now don't YOU start. I'm being misunderstood enough already on this thread...
I got your back!
{!} -- Shields UP!
Seems your hero has a lot of negative to say about numerous ministries that don't line up with his interpretation of the way things should be done. If we look at the number of people, you know, everyday types that are hurting from everyday life, that have been helped by Dobson and his ministry, I think you would have to admit that God is in it somewhere. Your guy sounds like a self taught (I didn't see where he attended any organized educational program, school, semenary, etc.) We are admonished to seek wise counsel, and Dobson does that all the time, in interviews, etc. Your guy? He has no trouble tearing down what others do, but what does he have to offer in a positive way that would have a day-to-day applicability for the common joe?
Was there a reason for your insulting post? Sounds like I hit too close to home for you...the truth about Christian apathy hurts doesn't it..
I've listened to Dr. Dobson since 1981 and read many of his books, his counsel is sound.
His radio program is an outlet for many who focuses on building and keeping strong families together.
My Hero is Christ. God's Word is Truth.
We are actually admonished to TEST ALL THINGS in light of Scripture.
As for day to day applicability -- Reading God's Word is the best advice their is -- not listening to a radio show.
I focus on building and keeping my family strong. I used to listen to Dobson, so I know where he comes from.
Regardless, experience is not the measure of anything. The homosexual "experience" is that gay marriage is a good thing -- but we're fighting that, aren't we?
No, all experience must be held up to Scripture. And a lot of Dobson's teachings fail in this regard. I'm not saying he's a bad guy, just misguided and misleading of others.
Anyway, no harm in letting people see the truth and let them decide. We don't want to be like CNN, do we?
Sounds like I hit too close to home for you...the truth about Christian apathy hurts doesn't it..
Not all. Its' more like everyone having problems and no one offering solutions or critizing about proposed solutions. As for Christian apathy...you are correct, hopefully not for long!
I have listened to Focus on the Family for many years and have NO problem with the teaching of Mr Dobson.
So are all things to be tested against gardner's experience OR against the Word of God? Glad you've researched all his teachings and compared them against Scripture. I post the links for others who have not yet been able to do such.
