Democratic presidential nominee Sen. John F. Kerry reported $395,338 in income last year and paid $90,575 in taxes. His wife, Teresa Heinz Kerry, heiress to the Heinz food company fortune, reported income of $5.1 million last year and paid $587,000 in taxes.
Bush last year reported income of $822,000, on which he paid 28 percent in federal taxes.
The joint returns for Edwards and his wife, Elizabeth, show they paid $13.2 million, more than 34 percent of their income, in federal income taxes from 1994 to 2003. The couple reported income of $5.2 million in 1994, $5.4 million in 1995, $4.3 million in 1996, $11.4 million in 1997, $5.9 million in 1998, $1.7 million in 1999, $1.8 million in 2000, $1.7 million in 2001, $1.2 million in 2002 and $306,000 in 2003. Until 2001, Elizabeth Edwards listed her occupation as attorney; since then, she has listed her occupation as homemaker.
Proof that Bush's tax cuts favored the rich. Go Bush!!!
I agree, GO BUSH!
What is that, a 11.5% tax rate?
I guess the 'inherited' rich really don't care about income taxes being raised - they don't work for the income they get, their tax attorneys do.
The number they leave out is what 28% of $822,000. Which, if I am correct, comes to $230,160.
Any wonder why the media would compare apples to oranges.
Kerry percentage was 22.9%, and Teresa's was 11.5%.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
I bet President George Bush donated more to charity last year too...
She deducted 50 cents per pair of John's dirty underwear that she donated to charity.
Pray for W and Our Troops
I have no problem with anyone getting wealthy..unless it's off American Job losses.
What bugs me is that these are the people we're electing to represent us. They haven't a clue! We have virtually nothing in common with these people. They have no idea how many of us are struggling just to hang on. Yet these are the very same who make the policies that impoverish us.
It's past time they were voted out of office. Please unite behind the Constitution Party so we can once more have representation in our government.
So did Teresa make good on her threat to only release pages
1&2 of the 1040, and none of the Schedules and Forms,
including those showing the specific "charities" she
donated to?
Her net worth, by the way, is reported to be as high as
1 billion.
She's fond of some lefty quote that goes:
"speaking truth to power"
As someone at National Review put it:
"Excuse me, but one billion dollars IS power."
That means the witch only paid at the rate of 11.5%
Remember that under Mr. Bush, the rate for dividend income (likely a large source for Mrs. Heinz... Kerry... whatever) is now only 15%. Throw in some tax-free muni income, and it's all quite legit.
I could be wrong about this, but the Kerrys, or at least Mrs. Kerry, own 5 to 7 palatial homes allover the place. The upkeep has got to take some serious money. I am guessing it is not coming out of their "incomes" which would be rather stretched with the upkeep along. Unless Teresa is doing the cooking, cleaning and laundry (I know), there is staff. Then there is the Gulfstream, etc. So I wonder how they are doing all this. Are the "homes" owned by some set up where the costs don't come out of their "measly" incomes. Just curious.
With the amount of dirty underwear that Senator Kerry has, such a deduction is likely to be one of the biggest of all time.
The IRS investigators are almost certainly going to be interested.
LOL. I WAS eating peanuts. Now I'm cleaning them up.
DOesn't your dog eat peanuts? OTOH,THe only thing that's clean around here is my cat....He's self cleaning.
It does pain me that a fortune made by a Republican is now in the hands of a Democrat...and not just any Democrat. Does anyone know if TahRayZuh [SIC] is the only heir to the Heinz fortune? Oh and by the way, she needs to donate about another 11% to the Defense Dept. That could buy a lot of body armor. :o)
