This detestable excuse for a general officer is blaming everyone else for the fact that she got caught in the Abu-Gharib prison abuse scandle, that she didn't know as the commander what was going on, that others are out to get her, that from the begining they all had fall-back plans, if anything went wrong they were going to pin it on her.

General SHUT UP!

Now listen up and listen up good!

You are responsible as the commander at the time the offense happened. Scratch in your memory a little. I know they taught this at CGSC and that to make BG you had to have completed that.

- Ever hear of the Yamashita Case? You remember, WWII, Japanese General, his forces were committing attrocites in the Phillipines, he did nothing to stop them, got tried at the end of the war, got hung.

Now stand up and take what's headed your way with dignity, but I doubt you ever had any General.

I'm trying to imagine a Gen. Tommie Franks, Gen. Schwartzkopf, or Gen. Ricardo Sanchez trying to make this claim.

(Nope, my imagination just doesn't stretch that far)

You wrote:

I'm sorry, I don't follow the reference to DACOWITZ.
Please elaborate.

PS Where can I find background on Karpinski? I am
distrustful of women in US armed forces in general
(no pun intended, a rarity for me), and suspect she
was put in as a concession to PC 'gender equity'
demands. Can anyone point me to reputable evidence
to back up or refute these suspicions?

Wasn't another female General (Claudia Kennedy) complaining about being sexualy harrased?

If female Army Generals can't own up to Command failures or handle other officers hitting on them themselves how are they going to expect loyalty from their troops?

Me thinks she doth protest too much. Command carries a double edged sword. Be careful how you wield it.

This is what we all know would happen as soon as women were promoted to high field positions via the military's PC affirmative action programs.

You can call a woman a general, but that doesn't make her one.

Real generals take responsibility for the soldier's actions that are under them, and "fall on their sword" if necessary.

This woman wants it both ways: a feminist general when times are good, and a "poor pitiful female" when times get rough.

Usual military lockstep policy. Hang the enlisted people, throw them in prison. The officers in charge are all assuming the Sgt. Schultz attitude, they saw nothing, heard nothing and for sure know nothing. Miserable lot.

DACOWITS = Department of the Army Commission on Women In The Service all pushed by the well,.. you get the idea in Congress. Best thing is to start here in FR with the search of Karpinski, then after your done there search Abu-Gharib. you can also search in www.google.com but I think that all that you are looking for has been posted on FR.

This is what happens when irresonsible leaders promote irresponsible people to meet a PC gender requirement.

You got it. Toss in the fact that when Claudia retired she became a director for the Girl scouts - took God out of the oath, and shes one of the members that voted and campaigned to allow Planned Parenthood to come and talk top the girls as young as 7. Now you figure out who she is and what she is of value.

Karpinski should consider a run for President as a democrat. After all, John Kerry became the democrat nominee, when he blames everyone else for his own failures and faults.

Yeah that would fit right in. Another one Claudia Kennedy is already helping with the Kerry campaign.

I don't think it is a gender thing. Remember that Wesley Clark rose almost as high as anyone ever rises in the military. He had some skills and some good qualities, but his rising that far makes me question the whole promotion process.

It seems that politics and cliques and informal "mutual aid arrangements" (I will make you look good if you make me look good") may have a lot to do with promotion to teh higher officer ranks. Okay, I know this is obvious like saying that the Pope is Catholic.

I might agree if you wrote: "Hang the enlisted people, throw them in prison. The OFFICER in charge is assuming the Sgt. Schultz attitude, see nothing, hear nothing and for sure know nothing.<<

Gratuitious comment alleging this Karpo thing is "usual lockstep policy" is unfounded, wrong and insulting to all who serve honorably.

Cheers

Lost in the shuffle about Claudia Kennedy is that she was dating Terry McAuliffe's father. Clinton boy McAullife used his influence with Bill and Hillary to get her promoted to 3 stars.

Runner..I expected as much the likes of you. The truth hurts that the enlisted are or will be in prison but the people in CHARGE WILL NEVER SEE A DAY OF INCARCERATION.
