It means Our god is greater.

In other words, if you could find the etimological basis for proving that, allah akbar doesn't mean what the general public has been lead to believe it means, that would be pretty awesome, in my opinion.

I have been racking my brain and it hasn't come yet.

After I listened to Medved. I wrote down the websight and visited it, it has been a little while back. The guy has written at least 1 book, I think he is a college teacher at University in Israel.

The calls are coming in fast and furious tonight so I haven't had a moment to root through my word associations that help me find names in my memory. I will come up with it though..

Allahu akbar means God is great. Allahu means God. Akbar is a form of the adjective great and is used for an emphatic. You can say it's "great," "greater," or "very great." But there's no "our" in the phrase and it isn't meant to compare one god with another. In Allahu akbar, akbar doesn't mean "greater" than another.
