NEWARK, Ohio -- Angry words and sharp disagreements... as Sen. John Kerry accused President Bush... anything to get re-elected,...
-snip-
Bush warned... would raise taxes...
"I'm running against a fellow who has promised over $2 trillion in new spending so far,...
... Bush ... "I support marriage and family, which are the foundations of our society."
...cited the August gain of 144,000 jobs as evidence ... "Because we acted, our economy is growing again," he said.
-snip-
But a newly combative Kerry questioned the Republicans' truthfulness...convention--where the senator was called "unfit" to serve as commander in chief--as filled with "distortion," "anger" and "vitriol."
Noting the first lie-detector test given in Ohio was done in Newark in 1933, Kerry said, "It's lucky for my opponent that his convention was held in New York and not here."
Former Sen. John Glenn... urged voters "to separate out fact from fiction." He accused Republicans of making false claims against Kerry and engaging in the kind of propaganda once employed by the Third Reich in Nazi Germany.
"That makes this a very, very tough fight because too often, too often in this country, if you hear something repeated, it's the old Hitler business," Glenn said. "If you hear something repeated, repeated, repeated, repeated, you start to believe it."
"I will not have my commitment to serve my country questioned by those who refused to serve when they had a chance," Kerry said, referring to VP Cheney's five draft deferments.... "I will not have it questioned by those who misled our nation into war with Iraq. It is clear that this president will say anything, do anything to avoid talking about the real problems of America and in order to get elected."
Later he added: "Every time they open their mouths, they can't tell the truth."

Any Nazi comparisons at this point can only be perceived as desperation.
These guys are beyond desperation. This type of thing will just cause another uptick for Bush. Could we ask more of them to assure a landslide for Bush? I am beginning to wonder.
John F'n Glenn??
You got to be shi**ing me!
This is shameless and mind boggling.
I just read it once.
Some of us do take time away from the keys.
It's sad. When I was a kid, Glenn was a hero, but I've lost all respect for him.
I did do a search. A 13 minute difference in post times. It just took me longer to post it because I edited the article to the 300 word limit.
When did Glenn become such a liberal?
.
CHINAGATE =
JOHN GLENN, Communist China's real 1st Man in Space
.
How many times has President Bush been compared to Hitler?
When he signed up for the Keating retirement plan....
imo
You can take the lad out of space.....
John, space flight has atrophied your brain. Or are you just a communist shill? Go sit down.
You know they've run out of arguments when they call some one a Nazi.
John Glenn is the twirp who sold out his duty in the US Senate vis-a-vis the Clinton impreachment to get his jollies off in a space ride. The man is a disgrace to the Marines and the state of Ohio which was stupid enough to elect this old fool to the Senate.
Yes, Kerry and Glenn are swinging...but those are the flailing arms of two drowning jerks who got in over their heads.
"How many times has President Bush been compared to Hitler?"
I'm not sure but I take comments like that personally. I mean if he feels that way about MY president, what is he saying about me?
Think I'll compose a letter for Mr. Glenn and his democratic pals and explain a few things to him. I'm sick of them attempting to insult and ridicule me into voting for John Kerry.
As a young child I remember a NASA astronaut in the early 1960`s named John Glenn. He was an American hero. This can't be the same John Glenn. Can't be.
