Looks like a legit outfit to me.
Goodness knows, the cost of such a venture would be astronomical.
I saw an article about this back in 1998(?) in Wall Street Journal.
You're right -- but it sure is an impressive site. I'm guessing some unscrupulous sort could raise a bit of capital on the website alone!
Above price list is about an order of magnitude too low to be believable. Must be a hoax/test project.
I hope amtrack isn't involved.
A quick google search came up with zeros. I think this is an elaborate hoax. Nicely done though...but still a hoax.
Willie Green keeps up with high speed rail propsals. I'll ping him to see what he knows. It sounds like a scam to me.
" To celebrate the opening of the Atlantic Tunnel to the public in September 2009, we're giving you the chance to be onboard the first train to the US."
All you have do to win a free ticket is give them a lot of personal information. And then wonder why such a tremendous project has never been mentioned once in any media. Actually though, it does have more appeal than the Brooklyn Bridge....
Would you be interesting in buying shares in an enterprise to connect the City of Brooklyn with New York by means of a most novel and innovative suspension bridge?
It's a movie promo.
Last stop was in Florida.
They wine & dine local presstitutes & political foils for "development" money then slip out the stage door during the final act of the "Dog & Pony" show.
A modern version of the act in Mark Twains "Huckleberry Finn" when Huck & Jim were highjacked by the "King".
"For your chance to win this once in a lifetime trip, simply answer the question below and submit your details. The prize draw will take place on 12 July 2004.".
We missed the free train tickets!
I take back the movie promo thing.
It is just an elaborate April Fools joke.

fwiw, I remember seeing something about this on the Discovery Channel some time back.
This pretty much confirms it:
==============
Where we are today
Today the Atlantic Tunnel is almost complete. Since the two halves were joined in 1986, engineers and scientists have been pushing the barriers of technology to ensure the tunnel is not only safe, cost effective and fast, but environmentally friendly too.
Remarkably, after such a long time, the Atlantic Tunnel Corporation is pleased to announce that the completion date for all the remaining work is ahead of schedule. By September 2009, the world will have a faster, safer, more reliable alternative to flying across the Atlantic.

Design exercise coupled with some very wishful thinking. ;)
