The Man that Never Was, The Party that Once Was.

The Man that Never Was, The Party that Once Was.

I have said since the beginning of the election cycle, that Kerry was not a winnable candidate he lacks in so many basic character issues. The idea he could defeat a sitting President was comical. The democratic faithful refused to listen.

I have said since the beginning that Kerry could never win the hearts and minds of America. While he may be a safe bet in uberliberal taxachussettes, a land that has no qualms electing a man who left a woman to drown all those years ago time and time again to the Senate, and no qualms voting a man who lied to the American people time and time again about the war in Vietnam and our soldiers and military hierarchy as their senators, he never stood a chance of winning the White House. The Democratic faithful again refused to listen or simply went awash in their own self-denial and labeled me crazy.

I watched Democrats go insane during the primary season. I watched them turn their backs on solid and decent truly thoughtful candidates, candidates that brought experience, seriousness and wisdom to the floor. They not only turned their backs on them, but chewed them up and spit them out like so much rotted fruit. Was it because these men were not electable? No. Was it because these men were not experienced? No. Was it because these men were not photogenic? (I know compared to Kerry’s horse face, this comment is almost laughable, but still..) No. No, they turned their backs on these men because they refused to condemn the war on terror.

I watched as many of the party faithful went mad before my eyes as the latched on to a rabid froth at the mouth man from Vermont. They bought into this low brow slobber thrower not because he was innately electable, or because he had vision or even charm. In fact repeatedly through the primaries at that time he came across as an arrogant blowhard (which did eventually get noticed in Iowa and took him out of the race). No this troglodyte had one thing and one thing only, he would say he was against the war, and he would say he hated Bush. That it seems was enough for them at the time.

After his collapse at the polls in Iowa, and subsequent public mental breakdown afterwards, the Democratic faithful did start to realize just maybe this guy was a bit too far off his rocker to win… So they looked around, and since all serious folks were out of the race by then, thought they found a winner with a guy named Kerry who jumped on the anti-war bandwagon in hopes of getting the nomination. This signaled the beginning of the end for the Democrats this cycle, and the whole affair has signaled the continued decline of the Democrats as a party, period.

Democrats quickly rallied around Mr. Kerry, seeing his lovely lipstick, they thought they had a solid counter for President Bush. Alas, the democrats were so enamored with the lipstick they never bothered to notice the pig underneath. They held a convention where they carefully put more lipstick on, and even some blush and mascara… and waited for America to admire their lipstick.

America pretty much said “ho-hum” to the lipstick, and Democratic faithful claimed a victory from their convention, because they had introduced the lipstick to the nation, and the nation hadn’t collectively barfed. Though no bounce happened, they reasons there was no bounce to be had, after all it’s a divided electorate they said, there was no room for a real bounce. They went on their merry way, continuing to awe at the lipstick.

Problem though was, once summer was over, and the kids were back in school, America started to truly look at the presidential race. Kerry, who had spent his entire campaign to this point largely talking about his 4 months in Vietnam, suddenly had to start answering nagging questions about not only his time in Vietnam, but more importantly his actions after returning from Vietnam. This was a very minor question, by an organization with only 500k in the bank… yet in spite of tens of millions of dollars being spent by similar groups for 6 months or more to attack the sitting president on everything and everything with little avail, Democrats and the Kerry campaign started to scream foul. Demanding ads be pulled, calling for books to be banned.. whining and crying like children.

This led American’s to seriously take a look at the lipstick, and Americans by and large started to collectively say the same thing…. Man, look at that pig! Democratic faithful still were saying, what pig? Don’t you see the lovely lipstick?

Then the Republican’s held their convention, and their speakers were eloquent, intelligent, on message and coherent. The talent of the Republican’s key speakers made the prime time speeches at the DNC look like shadows… mere 2 dimensional outlines of a greatness that was no longer there.

In response even more Americans looked and said look at that Pig! The Republicans got over a 10 point bounce in a year that democrats and pundents had said there was no room for a bounce, the race was too close, too polarized. The democrats still are saying, look at this lipstick! DAMMIT LOOK AT THIS LIPSTICK!!!

The contrast came full circle today. While terrorists gunned down children, shooting them in their backs as they attempted to flee, their Lipstick was on the campaign trail stating he “would not have his record on Vietnam challenged”. While America saw and was reminded exactly what this war we are in is about, and saw once again a President who understands and acts to defend America… they on the same day saw a Pig talking about some topic of insignificance… they saw the rambling old man that waits for the bus talking to himself in hopes that someone will pay him mind… they saw the Pig.

Fate could not have been crueler to the democratic zealots. On Thursday night Bush stands up and tells America why and what this war is for, and that he will never waver. On Friday Terrorists again show America and the world just how inhuman they are, slaughtering children, and low and behold some of them are from them are Arabs as well. Bush stands up and gives our condolences to Russia, offers help and reminds America and the world that we will not back down. And the pig is worried about his Vietnam record being challenged, and acting indignant because his desire to talk about the economy took second fiddle to Terrorists slaughtering innocence.

The Democratic party still argues that America is the problem, they have members that refuse to salute the flag, refuse to say the pledge of allegiance, refuse to acknowledge that as Zell Miller so eloquently and correctly stated that America and her military are not the problem. That our Military is a military of Liberators not oppressors.. yet the Democratic party still sees nothing more than jack booted thugs when they look at US Military might… and then expect the good people of America to trust them to be in charge of it.

They reject their own that do not subscribe to the “America is the problem” philosophy. They shout down, or try to, anyone who dares challenge their allegations, as they are unable to win the debate with logic. “Bush Lied” has become such mantra to them that they have lost all capacity for cognitive thought. They continue to view America, the greatest nation that has EVER existed on this planet as the problem. They have rejected all matter of rational and reasonable thought and reverted to primordial stew of “Hate Bush”.

The party has become a laughing stock, and amalgamation of fringe groups who stand for nothing except obstruction and hatred for whatever reasons of mainstream American values. They have become the permanent minority party, and at present there is nothing on the horizon to change this.

Pundents and talking heads have been talking about the divided electorate for so long they have begun to believe the lie. This week the lie is being shown for what it is… the supposedly razor thin, no room for a bounce electorate has swung to a double digit lead for the President, and those are the numbers for the days before the President’s acceptance speech, or the latest Terror attacks.

I’m sorry Democrats, you can’t claim to be the party to protect America while at the same time trying to claim you are against the war. I know you think you can make nuances and argue that Iraq was not a part of the War on Terror… however unfortunately many of your fellow Democrats agree that the war in Iraq was indeed a vital step in the war on terror. There are no nuances when it comes to things like THIS.

John Kerry still hasn’t had to answer his actions post Vietnam, where he visited Paris while still in the military and secretly met with representatives of the Communist Vietnamese (an action that is by every definition of the law treason), in fact that story hasn’t even really been reported much in the main stream yet.. but it will. Kerry still hasn’t had to really face questions about the fact the organization he help create plotted and voted on assassinating US Senators. Kerry still hasn’t had to face tough questions about his anti-war actions in general. Gay marriage also hasn’t really entered the national debate at the presidential level. Kerry also hasn’t had to truly answer for his 20 years in the Senate and his actions there.

The Democratic party has disgraced itself by putting this man forward as a candidate. It has shown once and for all it is not a serious party. It is a joke and a not even a shadow of its former self. It has been hijacked much like it was in 1968 by a small subset of fringe extremists who while very loud were never representative of the majority or America. And Much like 1968, it is looking more and more that the outcome will once again be the same.

Two Months is a long time in politics, but at this point I can tell you spitwads and lipstick will not get the job done. If things continue the way they are, Kerry may wind up making McGovern look good.

Imagine if W could pull of a '72 or '84 type landslide... With this slate of Senate races we'd sweep the South (+5) take down Daschle, Patty F'n Murray (my state) and maybe Boxer and only lose Illinois. We'd start '05 with a 57-43 lead in the Senate (minus a couple for the McCain/Chafee wing) and a 20 seat lead in the House... Ah a guy can dream, right?

Bravo!

Personally, I was suprised that Kerry made it past the primaries. There was never anything about this guy.

I've always thought this way. I remember when Dean was winning, and Dick Morris came out on Hannity and said only Kerry or Lieberman could win the election.

And I was incredulous. How could they possibly think he could win? He has such baggage from the Viet Nam War, is arrogant and unlikeable, and is a northeastern antimilitary ultraliberal.

And when they elected him I thought they were crazy. And as the weeks passed, I began to think, maybe the press CAN elect a big lie, by simply refusing to print the truth and focusing their hatred on Bush.

I am so glad to see the veneer coming off, like Rush said it would. He said Old Media will never rule us again. Thank God he seems to be proved right.

That said, we must not rest or let our guard slip - it's not over until it's over.

I know exactly how you feel. I admit to having a few WTF moments when I thought kerry's numbers weren't plumetting fast enough, and thinking the hate President Bush crowd was bigger than I thought, and this thing would snowball out of control. Here's to being glad that no bounce for the DNC and significant bounce for America's only choice for POTUS will previal!

If the PT boats are still running maybe Kerry can get a job on one. You know, waterski behind it or kite flying or maybe even conduct rescue training sessions.

You mean 1972, partner. McGovern lost that year.

John Kerry is slowly slipping into the pit of insignificance. This is looking worse than 1988, when Dukakis lead by as many as 17 points until August.

We can expect Kerry to become more and more shrill as he continues to shrink. No!No!Aiiiiieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Still, we MUST VOTE NOVEMBER 2. Even if Bush is up 20 points in the last Zogby poll, the vote fraud machine will be fully tuned, lubed, and running on all 8 cylinders. Enjoy the ride, as I am, for the next two months, but for goodness sake, VOTE.

IMO there were no really good candidates in the dim primary. Kerry won by default, because the others were just awful.

What was interesting was how Kerry was absolutely grovelling ("What can I do to win your vote?") just before Dean melted down. If he gets to that point in this campaign, it is going to be painfully embarassing for the Crats.
