We could take this guy out with the NYPD if we wanted to. Question is, why don't we?

This is going precisely as I said it would.

We will be badgered by this raghead until we grease him and bury his butt in bacon fat. Same goes for anyone who steps up and takes his place.

Hardly. The only reason al-Sadr still lives is because the Iraqis keep telling us to give him one more chance because they fear Shia reaction.

I had no idea that the Iraqi governing council had so much French blood flowing in their veins.

I would find a supporter of the cleric Sadr had killed at the end of the war and give him a chance to avenge his murder. Use their own suicide tactics against them.

My prediction the Iraqi Governing Council will now give the go-ahead since he is saber rattling.

Refer to Viet Nam 1966-1975. The State Department/World Opinion is directing our response.

"We could take this guy out with the NYPD if we wanted to."

Those in charge in Iraq obviously have a reason to keep letting fatboy live, for now. His day will come. The fact that we could have killed him many times and havent is proof he is being used. Maybe as a thug magnet, who knows.

because its not a military issue, as you correctly point out. its an internal political issues inside that country, the country doesn't belong to us, so we have to provide a long leash.

that said, after our election, I think things are going to change there - we need to keep a lid on things for 60 days.

Unfortunately, there are probably too many Iraqis who will believe this garbage, and give Sadr even more, since he (Sadr) is the new self-proclaimed "strongman".

What is needed is to use some long cherished local traditions: IIRC, around 740BC Assyrian king Tiglat Pileser III (a very sensitive man; he especially liked dancing and singing and kept a whole harem for it) was besieging some place in that neighborhood. Maybe even proto-najaf or proto-falluja. First he ordered the place to be walled up (he was a great humanitarian and philanthropically tried to starve them out); when it did not quite work but the starving besieged started trickling out, he had them impaled on stakes planted in his outer walls -for the besieged to see - and flayed alive once impaled. This sight crushed the resistance spirit, the place surrendered, was sacked and razed, and the survivors were mildly admonished and sold into slavery. He was the local guy and knew how to deal with Mesopotamians. Needless to say, in that area there were no revolts against Assyria for a hundred years.
I'd say there is a lesson in there.

Yep. Those hordes of "moderates" keep aiding and abetting bad boys like little Sadr.

But that's alright. If we leave idiots like him alive, they can keep bringing their terrorist, flunky cockroaches in from the other terrorist countries. That way, we don't have to transport our soldiers all over the place to eventually kill 'em all.
