This is unbearable. As I am watching the horror pictures from Russia, I watch our little one, for we have a lovely young one in the house too. This is unbearable. Nothing and no cause can justify this, no way. And what is more unbearable is that these zombies carry out all these atrocities in the name of my own religion, in the name of my own God. This movie came out before 9/11, so naturally, being from Hollywood, John Travolta's character "Gabriel" (head of a covert-ops team called "Black Cell" charged with defending American liberty at all costs) was portrayed as a bad guy. I thought he kicked ass.

Sherman made war on infrastructure and displaced large segments of southern population, but he was not a butcher, he did not target civilians for destruction. Neither was our policy in W.W.II meant specifically to kill civilians as much as it was to destroy the Axis powers' means of fighting the war. Terror bombings like Dresden are contreversial to this day for the tremendous number of people they killed while destroying almost no enemy infrastructure.
What you suggest is butchery at it's most base and vile, the slaughter of people who have nothing to do with the conflict. Women, children, the old, and the lame; killing them indescriminately is black evil, and rather than deter opposition it will only serve to radicalize more and more people.
I understand your anger and frustration, but you will never defeat terrorism by creating misery, death and hopelessness. The only way is to defend yourself against attack while you work to change the conditions that allow terrorist groups to grow. That's what we're doing in Iraq, that's what we're doing in Afghanistan, and that's what we're going to continue to do.
Because we're the Americans, remember? We're the good guys. Good guys don't kill kids for what their parents are doing, and they don't punish the innocent with the guilty.
