The thing about the Kerry Campaign is that it is very brittle. Instead of taking their lumps and running a decent and solid campaign to the end, even when they are down in the polls, like Dole did in 1996, or Mondale in 1984, this time we are going to see Kerry "explode," driving away supporters who now think things are hopeless, and keeping away Democratic voters from the polls. Look for Kerry to do an even worse job than McGovern in going down with the ship. I don't think modern history in the U.S. has had a presidential candidate fall apart the way Kerry will.

How many Kerry supporters will now see him as a loser and vote for the real antiwar candidate, Nader? How many will just stay home?

They have called this poll everthing from the Soviet poll to Wierd Al Yankovich poll. Incredible!

Just wait until the polls reflect Kerry's drunken press conference. It ain't going to be pretty.

I think it will be spliced up and used for commercials in swing states.

Kerry has been given to us as an arranged marriage. And the people have been saying - heeeeey, wait just a minute. The backlash to having (lurch|KerryStein|ThurstonHIII) shoved down our throats will bring out an extra 5% who otherwise might not give a damn. Kerry is going down like Dukakis or Mondale.

How long until Ta-ray-zuh files for divorce --

Oh, my bad -- you have to actually be MARRIED to get a divorce.

Wow, that computes to a seventeen point swing. And the poll did not includes W's brilliant speech. Hmmm...I don't think Zell Miller scared off the soccer moms. That is because they have turned into "Security" moms. I heard it on Laura Ingraham. Go W.

I hear that George Soros has asked Kerry to block out a slot in his calendar for a wind-surfing date.

He wants to talk about shaking up the Kerry campaign and taking over Cahill's job as campaign manager.

I'm celebrating right now, but I get your point. I would far rather have a bunch of polls saying we're ahead than that we're behind.

Then there's the electoral college reality.

Finally, I trust Time about as far as I can throw them. I tend to pay more attention to Fox Opinion Dynamics, Rasmussen, and Battleground.

I'm not sure Gallup is trustworthy...does anyone else know.

No they aren't - that's a myth (which too many Freepers bought hook line and sinker)

The only way as a 527 that you get yanked 60 days before the election is if you accepted corporate or union contributions - which most of the 527's have not. That includes the Swiftvets too, by the way.

Think about this one too, folks: as of today, the 527s are off the air. So George Soros has just thrown $15 million down a rathole.

Well, that's not exactly true.

Corporate and union-sponsored 527s are gone, but those funded with individual contributions can continue right up to election day.

This poll is going to keep getting posted unless you change the title on the existing thread to match the title on the article. The title of the article on time.com is "Campaign 2004: Bush Opens Double-Digit Lead." You can't find the existing thread searching for any words in the title other than "Bush" and that is a tad too broad for a search.

>>Yeah, but the RATs say F'n still leads in the battlegrounds.

And they might be right. It's just that if Bush has an eleven-point national lead, FL, OH, PA, NH, MO, IA, WI, MI are already in Bush's column and the battleground states are now WA, NJ, CA. Another week like this and M'chusetts might be the only battleground state left. (OK, a little wishful thinking.)

Great post.

Let's never forget that in his first run for the Presidency, Bill Clinton received 43% of the popular vote and 49% in his second go-round. And that Clinton, for all his faults, is a FAR more appealing candidate than the Frenchman from MA now running as the RAT party nominee.

Yes, yes, times have changed and there is a significant anti-Bush sentiment and all that blather. But Clinton at his best couldn't pull a majority and there's no serious third party to be seen this time around.

I am not encouraging anyone to be overconfident (he he he).
