It goes beyond the Hatred of non-muslims... It is hatred of our way of life. That fact that we let women live and work and act freely... Yes the base the hatred in Muslim religious law, and hijack the Koran. The Christian faith and the Jewish Faith have done the same in the past..
This goes so far beyond the religious beliefs.. That is just a fuel to ignite the masses. This is an Idealogical war so far beyond just religion. Ask the insurgents in Iraq they will start by giving you I hate the infidel line and that because we are no believers that is why they are attacking. but in numerous interviews when they have been asked to expound on that statement... they will cite economic reasons, socio-political reason etc..

Just so you understand I am not trying in anyway to justify this barbarous act that has been committed. I think though that we need to realize this goes beyond religion, and that religion is only being used as a medium here. That is why we are in such a dangerous time here...there are people that want to destroy our way of life. Not just Christianity... not just Judaism.... they want to destroy free and open society, because the more that their people that they are trying to convert and fight for them see the freedoms that the other side has to offer. The more their power over them weakens... Compare it to a College student at college for the first time... eventually that student comes to realize that the authority mom and dad had over them at home no longer is as powerful.When they are away at school. So the violate some of the boundaries that their parents set with them and realize that the consequences that were once there may not be there anymore. This is an Ideological power struggle, and religion is just another weapon being used...

I think it has everything to do with religion. This explains why the "peaceful" Muslems have NOTHING to say when these events occur.

They basically hate our guts, Jews and Gentiles alike.

I admire your idealism. I think it goes further...the Islamacists hate our free and open society because it does not adhere to sharia. You can't separate religion from this issue. Also, more than a few of the 9-11 hijackers had lived in this country, had wives and children in this country and in Britain-Many were college educated They were not poor. Some spent their last night on earth at a strip bar...They had lived amongst us for years. Our way of life did not move them, the innocent face of the babies they killed on those planes did not move them...Nothing will change them. Liberals and idealists believe if we change their circumstances, perhaps we can change them and make them understand us and if they understand us, the violence will stop. This is a pleasant dream..but it will never happen. They will never stop until we make them...and conventional warfare won't work. Perhaps if we destroy a mosque for every westerner murdered, we would get their attention. Let their bodies rot in open pits-deny them a burial. Maybe we should wrap their bodies in pig skin and feed them pork and watered wine. Who knows? But you will never make friends with them-no matter how well intentioned you are. I am sure they will accept what you give...and then turn on you at the first possible opportunity. The poverty of the Islamic world does not cause terrorism. Terrorism cause the poverty of the Islamic world-big difference.

There is an old story about two peasants, Boris and Ivan. Both are poor as dirt, the only difference between them is that Boris has a goat and Ivan does not.

One day, a good fairy appeared at Ivans hut and tells him that she can grant him just one wish.......and that it can be for anything that he wants, anything!

These created resentments blind them what the power builders are really doing to them. Hitler was able to get the German people riled up against the Jews, the end result was that Germans became subject to his dictatorship.

The Muslims have started WW III and the sooner the rest of the world understands this the quicker we can address the issues of how to exterminate the vermin causing the terror.
