Just like last night, someone is messing with the Iowa Electronic Market just at midnight so that a snapshot price at midnight, which affects the historical trend graph, makes it look like Kerry is doing better in political futures trading than he really is!

Good, let it fool people into think Kerry is doing better than he is, and you can make yourself a bundle.

Typical. They think that the rest of the world is so dumb and they are so smart. As if nobody will notice that this is manipulation, as if everybody will be so dumb to think that the market actually thinks Bush will lose because they jack with the market at closing time so it shows up on a graph different than reality.

What a way to waste a lot of money, manipulating a graph. LOL

Perfect. Buy sKerry futures at midday, and sell them at night.

If the administrators of IEM are not dumb or Democrat, they would use average daily price instead of the closing prices.

Can this stock be sold short like regular stock? If so, they're selling short to buy low. Someones taking the bait.
After the RNC, which is literally creaming Kerry, the stock will sky rocket, making the cheaper buys worth a bundle.

Just before midnight tonight the IEM markets were trading:
   REP04 0.540
   DEM04 0.455
Then just before midnight, Bush's numbers plummeted to 0.50 and Kerry's shot up to 0.475, very similar to last night. Now, historically Bush has enjoyed a 9 point spread in probability for the last couple of weeks, and for the last 2 nights price manipulation (people who had bought up Bush contracts then dump them at ridiculously low prices just before midnight) has reduced the difference to 0 last night, and a couple of points tonight.

Yep, this one has an up spike.
I was checking out the enemy on DUmmies about a week ago, and they were discussing an on line stock. I don't know where they'd get money to play one though, unless they saved their lunch money.
I can't imagine them being intelligent enough to play the market. I think this drop in Iowa Electronics is a sell short set up by those who know how to play the market well. There's money involved.
That's how Soros makes his millions - a drop in the American dollar (which is why he needs a Kerry win.)

I wouldn't call it a dirty trick per say.

If you could manipulate it to make money, wouldn't you?

The dems are easy pickings, some people are going to screw with the markets and try and make a killing, more power to'em. If they fail, hey, it happens.

I would, because the cash in is when the vote is called. In the mean time, add on to make each share pay off. There's Kerry supporters out there who think Kerry is doing well. Those are the people to scam.

Be careful short term. Buying right now would be the equivalent of buying stocks on good news. Often, market savvies buy after bad news and sell after good news. If you plan to hold to the election, it's of course a great investment :)

Larry Kudlow is a fan of the Iowa market. My understanding is they don't allow trades of more than $500 so it would take some coordination to do this. I did notice tonight's slide and was alarmed (I did not see last night's). I was wondering if the "cannot win the war" was having an impact. With a good speech tomorrow Bush can put this away.
