New School president Bob Kerrey - a former Democratic senator from Nebraska and a Medal of Honor recipient in Vietnam - had choice words for the Swifties accusing Sen. John Kerry of volunteering for Vietnam combat duty to pad his political résumé.
"Oh, f-- them," he told the Daily News' James Gordon Meek. "Quote me on that. The idea that you'd volunteer for [Swift boat duty] because you're thinking about a political career. ... That's what you think about doing if you want a posthumous political career."
Meanwhile, Creative Coalition co-president and "Dr. Vegas" star Joe Pantoliano wonders if FDR would fare better than Kerry if he were alive today.
"You'd have wheelchair veterans for truth coming out of the woodwork screaming, 'He's not really a cripple!'" the former "Sopranos" star told us at the coalition's party for former First Son Ron Reagan's collection of essays, "If You Had Five Minutes with the President."
Especially since Kerrey is referred to in Unfit for Command as "a genuine hero"... something Kerrey ought to be pretty damn grateful for, considering the questions that have come up about his service!
What a -jerk-.
Qwinn
Now I think I know.
The older Mr Kerrey gets the more vituperative and leftist he goes.
He should read the book, at least he wouldn't sound so ignorant when discussing the issue.
Wait until the Kerry campaign reports that John Kerry said this...
How does Bob Kerrey have any voice whatsoever in this debate? He wasn't there, he doesn't know the players, he wasn't a SWIFT officer, he knows nothing about it.
So glad to see that he's taken to cussing as his modus operandi these days. He's a real tough guy.
These people are squirming, and it's wonderful to see it. The Swifties are really getting to them. Good. These creeps deserve a good, SWIFT kick in the butt. Hah!
"No so fast, John Kerry." -John Edwards
How can Bob Kerrey express an opinion since he wasn't on Kerry's boat.
Uh - no, Bob.
f-- you. And you can quote me on that.
Good one!
Bob Kerrey is as liberal-left as they come. He was elected in Nebraska in spite of that because of his Medal-of-Honor (which he really did earn). That medal does not mean he is (or was) ever conservative. The citizens of Nebraska elected him governor and then senator because of the medal -- not what he stood for. BTW, he was the most anti-gunowner governor we ever had.
Ahhh..
the intellectual left finally reduced to the essence of their argument.
Is Bob "I'm a citizen too, a$$hole!" Kerrey the only known metrosexual amputee? Just asking.
What was the part in the book about how Kerry was "volunteered" when he didn't show up at a meeting and he spent the first week at his new duty moaning about it so they transfered him? I read it online in one of the three chapters at Human Events. Anybody know the details?
Considering other cases of "mistaken identity"...
Are we sure this is a statement from Bob Kerrey and not John Kerry?
Now I'm not going to go totally crazy here. Swift boat duty, as it existed when Kerry volunteered, was more dangerous than being a division officer on a DLG, but Kerrey must not have read Kerry's book to make the comment he did today.
Waiting for the liberal media to plaster this on all the headlines ala VP Cheney to Senator Leahey(sp?).
waiting....
*crickets chirping*
waiting....
*wind moaning*
waiting....
*bias claims solidifying*
waiting....
I think it's time for Bob Kerrey to see John Kerry's hairdresser. The "I CLAUDIUS" hairstyle just doesn't cut it. The Roman look is a bit old now.
