Is Soros 'gaming' the IEM Iowa Electronic Market? [your chance to make some DOUGH!]

Is Soros 'gaming' the IEM Iowa Electronic Market?

Conservatives in recent days have been hailing the Iowa Electronic Market [election stock market], since it acts very much like a real-time-poll.

It measures how much each side is willing to part with their own hard-earned cash to bet on their candidate.

But the flaw in the IEM, is that the daily GRAPH of CLOSING PRICES CAN be easily manipulated by rich-guys, by BUYING UP ALL the contracts just BEFORE midnight, and then covering your bets in the opposite direction AFTER midnight.

THAT apparently happened last night, and somewhere, there are democRATS laughing at the Conservative bloggers who like to report George Bush'es progress almost daily.

The most recent MIDNIGHT results look pretty bad.

But compare that to the AVERAGE selling prices and you will see it was just a SCAM, someone was GAMING the chart for political PROPAGANDA purposes!

I'm sure some of you clever Freepers can use this knowledge to make yourself some BIG DOUGH if this should happen again in upcoming midnight trades!

I show TWO dots per day, indicating the AVERAGE selling price, plus ONE EXTRA dot at the end showing the CURRENT selling price.

Note how the MIDNIGHT SCAM was so short lived!
(does anyone know if what they did is illegal?)

As Rush has said all week, we are winning this war with the other side. The louder they scream and yell, is a positive sign for us.

You guys are amazing.

"Oh, please don't say that, you're going to discourage us!"

Listen, gaffes like that make our jobs harder. Now we'll have to put up with swing voters incessently saying, "it's a war even the President says we can't win."

I'm not saying "give up," but rather, "be prepared for the enemy's attack." And truthfully, I thought you guys were of heartier stock than to read defeat into what I said.

You guys are amazing.

Please re-read what you wrote and then tell me who's "amazing".

You opted to absent yourself from rational discourse with your ridiculous comparisons concerning the impact of the Bush remark.

(On it's face, Bush's statement is correct. It is a slightly unfortunate choice of words ONLY because of the severe bias of the media. My prior post adequately addressed why your overreaction was absurd)

I didn't read defeat into what you said. I meant to imply that the "can't win" gaffe is over. The only ones who care are DUmmies.

Dubya misspoke, and was further misinterpreted, and it was corrected. It's not a question of defeatism, but rather of irrelevance.

Assassins in ancient Persia...
Mckinley's assassin...
Anarchists in early 20th USA and Europe...
FALN, FARC, PLO,
AlQuaida, etc...
all of these are of a common thread. By stomping one out you do not eliminate the others. This is the reality of human life, before Republicans and Democrats, which the President realizes. Yet, we are told he is not "intellectually curious".
Get a grip.

Yes, it's possible that a group or groups on the left did it en masse. If that was the case, it's doubtful that they'll get enough support with money to continue much of an anomaly, though. ...interesting.

Your statement was not a motivating statement. It was a typical demoralizer.

But anyone who is attentive enough to want to vote already knows the nature of the War on Terror and the intent of our Commander-in-Chief. It's been widely publicized and does overshadow the most recent of daily incredible accusations from the left/liberal media. During this Campaign, those media companies are so desperate that they are quickly earning the perception of the populace that they should all be called, "The Daily Lie."

Republicans now hold the stage. The clowns of the left/liberal media companies stand discredited--losing enterprises funded by kooky moguls. They're no longer even good for running ads.

We are crushing the Democrats. They will be in a frenzy and making stupid statements until November 3rd.

max contract position doesn't matter. Any resourceful person can find hundreds of surrogates to invest through. Especially if we're talking about an organized group like a 527.

use extreme caution with any type of trading instrument.

the smaller the number of trades and traders, the more susceptible it is to being scammed. the shorter the trading horizon, the more susceptible.

use caution if you have decided to place a bet in these.

The max contract limits just make it more expensive (in administrative time) to make all the bets. Sure, someone can get around them, but the bets are peanuts-- the amount of money on all these contracts wouldn't feed an elephant for a week, I suspect.

Also, notwithstanding all this flurry, Bush is now ahead about 8 percentage points in this (Iowa Electronic) market (and 19 percentage points in the SportsTrade aka Intrade-- Irish betting site market). The benefits of this trade are that it got picked up at least twice (perhaps more) on the CNBC cable, which has trivial market share (the viewers being mainly investors who are part of Bush's base).
