Sorry for starting this thread so early. Is this like calling "shotgun" three days before the trip starts LOL?
I was trying to find out the time that the Senator's speech will occur. I found nothing at the Legion website (www.legion.org), nor at the Kerry site, nor at CSPAN. When will the speech be given?
Anyway, here is a thread for people to post their comments.
Noted! The winner gets a $3 dollar bill.
The media room is usually somewhere near the main convention hall, and we either need the fax number for the media room, or in-person delivery to the media room of the following!!!! (copied and pasted from an earlier thread this week)
As John Kerry gets ready to speak to the American Legion on Sept. 1, during the GOP Convention, it is worth recalling some of his earlier comments on that esteemed organization: We will not quickly join those who march on Veterans' Day waving small flags, calling to memory those thousands who died for the "greater glory of the United States." We will not accept the rhetoric. We will not readily join the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars-in fact, we will find it hard to join anything at all and when we do, we will demand relevancy such as other organizations have recently been unable to provide. We will not take solace from the creation of monuments or the naming of parks after a select few of the thousands of dead Americans and Vietnamese. We will not uphold traditions which decorously memorialize that which was base and grim. It is from these things the New Soldier is asking America to turn. We are asking America to turn from false glory, hollow victory, fabricated foreign threats, fear which threatens us as a nation, shallow pride which feeds off fear, and mostly from the promises which have proven so deceiving these past ten years. Those comments came in the epilogue to "The New Soldier," the book put out by Vietnam Veterans against the War. The book's cover features a group of not-particularly sober-looking antiwar protesters (vets, presumably) flying the American flag upside down, with the hygene associated with the protesters in New York City right now. When the speech was announced August 18, Kerry's communications director, Stephanie Cutter, told reporters that Kerry is a member of the American Legion.
Placeholder bump. :) Back soon...
Just tuned in c-span and they're replaying GWB at the Am. Leg. from yesterday.

I would like to see about 20-25% stand back-to Kerry. I think the VFW event and particularly the two who stood back-to Kerry is what set Kerry off about the swift boat vets ads. I can just see Kerry, "How dare they? Don't they know who I am!"
LOL, me also, can't wait to see his long lying face and hear his lies, hey Kerry, you are loosing, NEENER, NEENER, NEENER!!!!!!
The whole Imus endorsement of Kerry was rather forced from the start. Then Kerry pissed him off by not stopping his campaign train while it was slowly moving through his ranch for kids with cancer. Imus had the urchins out in the dark to meet Kerry and got stiffed.
Clinton concealed his liberalism---which was easy for him to do, because as a child of an alkie, he had learned how to change personalities at the drop of a hat. Moreover, Clinton, as arrogant as he was to common people, was not as arrogant as Kerry: Clinton would actually TAKE ADVICE from people like Robert Rubin, Dickie Morris, and Stan Greenberg.
So don't fall into the trap of thinking that a "better candidate" could have won for the Dems. They WILL NOT NOMINATE a Zell Miller-type. It's not who they are anymore.
My understanding was that there were a few hundred who turned their backs on him. The media focused on the picture of the two to minimize the story.
Okay. Maybe I was getting a little carried away.......
The Over/Under has been set at 42 minutes. I'll take the Over.
I suspect they thought they could protect their family from terror so to hell with the rest of us out here with targets on us.
I just have a hard time respecting his promoting kerry for any reason.
I think you've nailed it. I could also see Eric gaming the system to collect medals.

Geez, that smile looks even more 'Thurston-y' than usual.
Wow. That sheds a different light, both on the amount of appropriately disrespectful behavior, as well as on the media's efforts to hide the truth. Do you have a citation, or photos, or other evidence (people who were there) that a hundred or more VFW members turned back-to while Kerry was speaking?
Since that school takeover in Russia, my concerns for similar tactics here at home have been exacerbated.
School is now in session in many areas, and we have a little over two months to go before the Elections. Does that convergence of factors concern anyone else just a little?
Given what a couple of whacked out juvenile delinquents did to Columbine, I don't even want to imagine what a team of trained AlQuida Terrorists could - and would - do with a large school.
Of course in obediance to the ironclad rule of PC, American schools remain officially disarmed "killing zones".
If Kliebold and company didn't mind violating some 18 anti-gun laws at Columbine, I don't suppose that suicidal islammonazis will lose much sleep over such "laws" either, do you?
Only they will be much better armed, equipped, and trained.
Will we be seeing any significant security around our schools this year, or any armed community "civil defense" activation to protect our kids?
Probably not; wouldn't be PC, you know.
I'm glad our Daughter is out of school now; God help and protect our kids who are currently compelled to attend these PC Government indoctrination centers!
I think he's going to go for the non-apology apology. "I'm sorry if you unsophisticated hicks don't have enough of a grasp on nuance to understand what I said."
Well, maybe so, but it was a beautiful mental image nonetheless. :=)
