STOP THE WAR ON HEROISM
As an American, I am very upset about how people are attacking Sen. John Kerry's (USN '66-'70) war record. I can't help but think about how these attacks will effect soldiers serving so bravely today. I am writing to show my support to ALL soldiers that server during a time of war, regardless of your service length, location or level of danger you are in.
When critics refer to Kerry's service as "only 4 months," they are completely dismissing his first tour of duty on the USS Gridley. What message does this send to soldiers currently aboard ships escorting aircraft carriers, rescuing pilots who ditch at sea, providing plane guard duty, coordinating anti-aircraft warfare efforts, and relaying communications -- all duties performed by the USS Gridley in it's service history. If you were not 'in country,' do they think your service doesn't count? Does that mean they dismiss all those who are serving on ships such as the USS Abraham Lincoln?
Every person who has refereed to John Kerry's service in Vietnam as "only 4 months" is insulting every US solider in "Operation Iraqi Freedom" that has not set foot on Iraqi soil. They should be ashamed.
THEN, to attack someone for not being wounded badly enough? To ridicule a wounded soldier! Shameful.
America's best politicians, Republican and Democrat, are those who have served in the military. THEY are the true backbone of our government. I hope seeing Kerry's war record used as a weapon against him does not turn off any returning vet from wanting a political career. We need them!
EVERY SOLDIERS SERVICE COUNTS. And, I thank them for it.
Ready, aim, .......
Yeah, every soldier's service counts---unless you are a Swift Boat veteran opposed to Kerry. In that case, you are liar and a war criminal.
Kitties...
All systems go for ZOT
By the powers invested in you, o almighty Mod...
I don't ridicule a wounded soldier. I ridicule an officer who gets scratched with his own grenade shrapnel and then runs off looking for a Purple Heart.
By the powers invested in you, o almighty Mod...
John F'n Kerry : Terrorists' choice worldwide for President.

True, Kerry was only "in-country" for a paltry 4 months.
He was "on station" on the Gridley also for a paltry 4 months.
Every other Vietnam Veteran who claims any number of "tours" is referring to the 12 to 13 month timeframe required.
Kerry claims to have TWO tours in Vietnam, with most veterans, equating a minimum 24 months.
Kerry served barely a THIRD of that time.
Semantics...the next level of attack.
As long as they refrain from accusing the entire American army of being murdering lunatics after returning home I'm sure they'll have nothing to worry about.
Welcome to FreeRepublic. That is a very stuning point of view. It is up for series debate on this hugh problem that faces John Kerri.
Fire mission!
There is no "everyone" here. There are Veterans who were there making contrary claims to other Veterans who were there. So are you saying that only the 18 or so Veterans who agree with Kerry's version of events can speak, that the 254 other Swift boat Veterans should just shut up? How unAmerican of you.
"I'm John Kerry, and I approved this post."
> I am writing to show my support to ALL soldiers ...
Including Lt. William Calley?
That's very generously naive of you.
If Kerry will only sign the SF-180, and share with us
the same information demanded of Bush, we can clear
all this up, and apologize to Kerry.
