This is the thread for Day Two of the RNC Convention.
Man! I could hear DUers' blood vessels bursting all the way over here when this babe said the world have been better off with GWB helming WWII. Hehe.
I am...i WILL FEAR NO EVIL!
Bill is a smart man.
I didn't say that.
But, it is true that you really ARE stupid.
Ummm.....that sounds kinda kinky!
Medea Benjamin?
I agree it would've been "LIGHTS OUT".
BUT...I think the strategy was probably to grab the TV audience. Men, especially, may not have stayed tuned through Laura to get to Arnold.
Strategically, it worked.
Worst. Game. Ever.
It was Mort who started it. It was a typical Mort comment. Mara isn't very clever, she'll echo whatever anybody else says. Kristol was the one who changed the subject, but Fred turned it into a general criticism on families in public life.
I couldnt argue with a word she said
I was listening. She was very powerful.
Watch out. For daring to say the twins were not perfect, be prepared to be told:
1) You're a fuddy duddy.
2) You're just not cool.
3) You need a nap, or old age medicine
4) You belong at DU.
Big tent, indeed.
A triple negative, and the crowd goes wild!
I agree...it's no wonder the GOP has a hard time moving beyond split governance into full majority control: whiners, tight-wads, and people without one brain cell devoted to a sense of humor!
Are Fred and all them so bored that they think EVERYTHING matters in an election? The next thing we know they'll be whining about he broach or color flower Barbara Bush was wearing. Or her earrings.
Geez!
Welcome Aboard!
I like her! My CSPAN link just died.
Some people won't let young people be young. I find the twins delightful....and much better looking than the OTHER older 2 daughters, whose contribution to the political discourse was about a hamster for God's sake.
Barnes did not slam Laura and the twins. And his comments - which he gets paid to give on Fox - were right on.
Arnold was great.
You know, as a social conservative, I have this observation.
It seems that the social conservatives who get to speak end up talking not about the eminently defensible social cons agenda, but about "compassion." I am fed up with that. It seems that because they (er, we) are religious right that we have to show our our faith leads us to be compassionate....they are scared about being socially conservative I think.
Which means also that social conservatives spend a lot of time apologizing for the social conservative agenda such that our fiscal/economic agenda gets shortchanged.
Arnold, on the other hand, is not a social conservative. He's a liberal. But on the fiscal issues and on economic freedom, he didn't come across as a moderate at all, but really a libertarian. This was refreshing. He had the guts to call the democrats socialists (reference to HH in 68). He had the guts to denounce communism and socialism in Europe and making it clear that socialism is the opposite of freedom.
Thus, in the end, Arnold actually did a better job of carrying my agenda than most other Repubs, including those who are socially conservative.
Interesting, really, if you think about it.
