MTV has been pushing a get out the vote program that is only a thinly disguised Vote for Kerry campaign. They've been pushing politics, and in particular Kerry, on their audience for months now.

I believe the audience was there for music and is sick of MTV's politicking. The booing was probably just as much aimed at MTV as at the Kerry daughters.

Good. I hope advertisers paid notice also.

Hell, they pushed Bill Clinton way back with that "boxers or briefs" crap.

MTV is finding out what many universities are finding out...they aren't in control any more.

I didn't see that. That changes things a bit. It seems that they aren't just along for the ride and have become "involved" which makes booing and other such things perfectly legitimate.

Exactly. If they're going to go into the political arena, then they've got to be able to handle criticism. But I think they're so used to all the puff-piece coverage and treatment they've gotten, they sound like they're in shock that anybody would boo them!

I think the booing was out of line. Those girls didn't get to choose their father (OBVIOUSLY!) or his career. I'd be pissed if someone did that to the twins.

Kerry's kids (minus his son) have been vocal in support of there father, which is fine but also vocal in there attacks on Bush, something the twins haven't been with Kerry.

Either way, I don't think the booing was necessarily pro-bush or anti-kerry. Its possible, but alot of the people might honestly be sick of politics, and sick of hearing elitists tell them how to vote especially at a non political event. People do OD on this stuff

It also doesn't help kerry's kids that some of the people that booed them may have been naderites or deaniacs. On the upside, these kids aren't claiming, as the DUmpster was, that it was really the bush twins getting boooed.

The booing is also an insight to a younger generation mob psychology within a younger American culture.

I've noticed the entertainment industry has been promoting numerous 'socialist' perspective films and shows over the prime cable forums this last week,...recent Class C films made during Clinton's reign. They tend to imply nationally led financing of social services en lieu of local or individually controlled funding mechanisms as a cultural norm.

I suspect this younger generation may have their own thoughts on such garbage. in large part because they've seen the consequence from the bottom up.

Culturally, I suspect Americans in future generations might be more prone to undisciplined versions of mob psychology witnessed in past 'socialist' failings and fallings. For example, the fall of Mussolini wan't very pretty, nor that of many lessor 'elites' who rode the wave of socialism until it came crashing down. Not limited to socialism, the mob psychology of the French Revolution also exposed some devastating consequences to previously elevated classes.

It seems the whole kerry clan is unlikable at a national level.

And timid, and fearful, and shocked, SHOCKED that anyone would DARE to not agree with them ... especially in public.

You have to wonder what planet they were raised on that they've never had someone disagree vehemently with them.

Mummy and daddums obviously didn't prep them very well.

On the other hand, if they're going to hop on stage they'd better be ready to duck some tomatoes. I don't know. It's hard for me to articulate my thoughts on the matter. I guess I just felt sorry for them."

The booing was out of line but considering who the audience was are you suprised?
Actually appealing to this age group to vote is just foolish.
The 18yr old vote should be rescinded (we are not drafting anymore which was the major reason it passed) and return to the 21 yr old vote.

Wow! Did you write that off the top of your head?
Very impressive!

Sigh,..I admit it was a bit redundant and poorly punctuated.

The real enemy probably isn't 'socialism' per se, but 'socialists' tend to identify many of our real enemies with that name and are accordingly grouped.

They were not booing the daughters. They were booing John F'ing Kerry through his daughters, evidenced by the loudest boos when he was mentioned. It was jarring to them because they had been led to believe this was a sympathetic audience. And on the issues it should have been. But I think some sense of the discredit he brought to himself by slandering the troops in 1971 has gotten through to them as a result of talk radio and the SVFT, which they are undoubtedly only hearing about second hand from their parents and other non-stoners over a period of time. And the troops today are held in high esteem, even by them in the aftermath of 9/11, so what Kerry did is recognized for the lies and treason that it was. Anyone touting Kerry would have been treated to the same. And now the herd mentality to be anti-Bush among the young has been broken by a watershed event. I can see by November that it might even be "cool" to be for Bush.

Those old enough to die for their country are old enough to vote. Eliminate registration at 18 & have 21 as the minimum age to volunteer & then changing the age back to 21 would make sense.
