Medals Matter
As every enlisted member of the military knows, officers are awarded medals like trick-or-treaters are awarded Halloween candy. For that reason, it's no surprise that LT (jg) John Kerry might have received an award or two that was not justly deserved. The difference, however, is how John Kerry used his awards.
John Kerry abused the military awards system by requesting Purple Hearts for largely superficial wounds. He then used the "thrice-wounded" rule to abandon the troops he was supposed to be leading in a combat zone. It's made even worse that John Kerry left Vietnam only to demonize and demoralize the men he left behind.
John Kerry - when referring to Jim Rassmann - claims he would never leave a man behind. What about the crew he deserted at the first chance he got?
