ATHENS, Greece -- A defrocked Irish priest with a history of disrupting sports events was given a one-year suspended sentence and fined $3,600 Monday for grabbing a runner who was leading the Olympic marathon with three miles to go.

Cornelius Horan was convicted by a misdemeanor court of violating Greece's laws on extracurricular sports for knocking Vanderlei de Lima into the crowd on Sunday. De Lima continued running, but he soon lost his lead and finished third.

Typical whimpy European response. No wonder they almost caused the end of the world twice last century and continue to be soft on terror.

Oh for crying out loud. If this guy has a history of this crud, he needs at least some time clanging a cup against the bars.

This is the same nutcase that ran out into one of the major European car races not too long ago. The man needs help. The man needs locking up.

Was it a Dirty Harry, Clint Eastwood movie where Harry said that the government could get a sodomy charge reduced to "following too closely".

Ah, the lovely benefits of the "liberal" age where there are no consesquences for anything except being a white male conservative or Republican.

All credit to the Greeks for doing a magnificent job of running the Olympics. But with this non-punishment of this repeat offender, Greece is back to being Greek, which means FUBAR. The last time this crazy man got into a sporting event he nearly killed someone. He got on a track among cars running at more than 200 MPH.

And now in a situation which MAY have messed up a Gold Medal at the Olympics he gets a "suspended sentence"? What a huge, steaming, crock. (Not to be too harsh, mind you.)

That wouldn't be proportional to the "crime". In 1972 the surviving terrorists who kidnapped and Murdered the Israeli athletes were released within three months. The defrocked priest's crime was much less serious.

P.S., apologies for the second post, but 2 things: 1.) too bad he wasn't hit by one of the grand prix cars at about 150 MPH.

2.) The extreme self-righteous, self-indulgent narcissim of these people who think that what they do is so important or matters a whit. It's never about their "causes", what it really is about is their need for ego recognition to fill the empty, meaningless void and fear at the center of their lives and being. All "do-gooders" are that way.

I've run a marathon, I know what even that effort is. The athletic skill and effort to run it in 2 hours is staggering. To prepare for that, to have the world's greatest record in endurance sport within sight, a just reward of all that effort - and then to have some useless punk, some piece of human debris, crap all over everything you've done. No, people, jail is too good for this guy. He ought to be drawn and quartered.

A guy dressed as a gay leprechaun, with wacky Israel/Zion/Christian messages pinned to his front and back, who ruins the the climax of the long-awaited historic Athens marathon by running out and molesting the leader and causing him to lose while the whole world watches.

It's official: This guy's The Biggest A**hole On Earth. I vote to stop him.
